The Official 2022/23 Premier League Thread

When do we play Palace? I hope its soon as these look like they haven’t got a clue.

Jesus will get 2 tonight and Arsenal will win this by 4 or 5.

Palace just dont look right. Whether its the line-up, or not prepared or whatever...just dont look like the team from lastyear

Vieira was making some worrying noises this week. Sounds like it's manifesting itself on the pitch tonight (not watching as in airport awaiting flight to Stansted which has been delayed over an hour. Thanks Ryanair).

fudge it, Palace whacked the Goons last season when we really needed it.

"It's good enough for top 4."

perhaps. Its not in the 4th best starting 11s in the PL

I think they'll drop of massively once European football starts, exactly for the reason you mention. No depth. They'll just be knackered.

As a result, if they're not within a couple points of 4th when European football starts, they're screwed
A lot of people, especially on this forum, are seriously underestimating Arsenal. They've looked very good in pre season. They've looked well drilled, fluent movement and passing and players look like they all are on the same page, and they look the same in the first 35 minutes now.

We have looked nothing like that, more like a bunch of strangers playing together, which is weird considering the pre season we've had.

I suppose one good thing is the Arse bench looks like s**t. Hopefuly being in Europe prevents them playing their best 11 at times this season.

They started brightly tonight but starting to drop off . I agree tho they’ll be amongst it no doubt .

Managed by a clown though.

How was that not a pen?
Because it isn't a pen. Very happy that is no longer a penalty! He has no idea where the ball was, and it just hit his hand. It has to be hand seeking ball now, not the opposite, and thank GHod for that!

Thought if your hand is away from your body it's still a handball? Changes so often it's hard to know what is a handball or not at the start of each season

A better wording would be something like "Player makes an intentional move to cause or greatly increase the likelihood of touching the ball."

That stops the pens for the ball being blasted against a player's hand but also catches those (Victimpool and Chelski players) who stretch out their arms when defending to increase their frame.

His hand was exactly were you'd expect it to be. You can't run around with arms strapped tight to your body. If you deliberately make yourself bigger and handle the ball, it's a pen, but not if the ball just hits your hand, it's in a natural position and you can do nothing about it.
