Harry Kane MBE

Needs to stop dropping deep so often and buying into his own hype as a playmaker.

I know we don't have a creator to feed the strikers currently and Winks was a typical coward tonight, but Kane needs to stay forward mostly and do what he does best.

He's doing it because of instruction imo. That and the fact we play so defensive he has to do it just to get a touch of the ball sometimes...sadly, i fear Paul Merson will be proved right...:(

Dallied on the ball and lost possession 5 or 6 times today. Lack of passing options or just plain old knackered this was not his best game. Rest him v Fulham and give Vinicius a run out.

He doesn’t seem to be a lack of passion player. He’s full out when he has the energy in him. As evidenced by how he plays. He looks out of fuel. And options. Today he had the ball deep several times with no attacking outlet.

Alli should have been in for Winks to take on the burden of creating goals. It's something Kane shouldn't have to burden himself with too often, unless it's creating goals for himself.

His reaction on Wednesday said to me that he cares and is trying. He’s being flogged. The tactics and the amount of games are killing him.

TBF this performance is allowed, he has been our outlet, our scorer and defender from game one this season, yeah he was poor today but it highlights our lack of anyone else to contribute if he cant.

Anyone on here suggesting he has no passion needs to get a grip, he is the one player that has dragged us out of every hole, throwing himself infront of balls, leading assists and still gets alot of goals, but what he has done is cover the teams sins for far too long which are exposed the last few games.

It's not him. I've seen this situation for about a month now in games - you all have, too. Ball goes into our box - we clear it. It falls to Hojbjerg or Winks or Sissoko, they slide a ball through to Kane who's deep in our half, facing our goal.

And then, nothing. He can't turn, because there's a player on him. He can't pass it left or right because he has only one runner beyond him, Son, and he's double marked. And he can't go anywhere because five of the opposition players are closing him down, converging on him like sharks because they know we have absolutely no other outlet.

And so he either -

1) gives the ball away and we retreat into our defensive shape,

2) gets fouled, wins a free kick, we give the ball away and retreat into our defensive shape, or

3) tries a pass to Sonny anyway, it gets intercepted and we retreat into our defensive shape.

Mercifully, once in a while it happens on the touchline and we get a throw in, which we give away and then retreat into our defensive shape.

He isn't helped by any of this absolute nonsense.

So what’s the answer?

Lack of PASSING options not lack of PASSION.
