    I get where you're coming from but the money involved in this trade make it very attractive to organise crime which would include those you identified your list. Who would have thought that corner shops, barbers and beauty salons would be involved in terrorism and organised crime.

    Numbers don't but the interpretation can be viewed in many ways, I can get all the data I need on a car but would never buy one without test driving it. I understand they can be useful tools to professionals in their jobs but they give so much fuel to the "experts" on the game to drone on about...

    It must be a lot harder to scout players these days, clubs change managers and systems so often they must spend months looking for x and y and then told to forget it and find a and b.

    But you could rely on him turning up for training and performing in games, Gazza in his prime would be lucky to get a game for Hartlepool now, no tactical nous and tried to go forward too much.

    I agree with most of what you write but a manager will be misquoted or out of context by media particularly the social media sites, simply saying some players aren't up to speed will start "Frank blames players" or "Frank loses dressing room" etc.

    I think Test "stats" give a reasonable judgement on players and performance but still don't reflect condition of pitch or weather. First class average are a useless tool to gauge the suitability of a player to play test cricket.

    It appears to be a big issue on here after most games. I rely on my own eyes to judge how well we played.
