The investment when we bought La Celso Ndombele Bergwijn is fine, the type of additions we should be looking at. Of course that level of funding has been squeezed.
But regardless, just as we did with Poch, we need to luck out with a manager, they are the difference maker.
And I don't necessarily mean winning things but getting us looking decent and challenging (ie where we were)

Yet he is getting backed but he needs to be that 10% more that Loch wwsnt, that's on him or you ask why make the change.

He will get another couple of signings too, if he has chosen not to address the need for a quality ball playing CM that's partly on him or he needs to improve Ndombele was was a 55m player 6 months before he came

That's his job

We have a ball playing CM in Lo Celso
What’s scary is that we spent £180m last season and not one player started from that outlay

The worst thing about today was last season should have been the transition. Mourinho should have a decent structure and idea of his players by now.

Maybe we can cut him some slack because of the disjointed preseason. The team picked
Itself on fitness grounds maybe.

I’d go with the following team and give them 10 games:

Doherty Toby Sanchez Sessegnon - harsh on Dier. Longer term he’ll take over from Toby, but we currently need his experience.

LeCelco Hojberg Ndombele

Son Alli

Kane

There isn’t much between Alli and Bergjwin. Moura played well the end of last season and he and Bergjwin would rotate into the team.

The 11 above are our best players. We then need to develop the structure and team shape. Something I thought Mourinho would have done by now. Today was a wake up call.

Yes, that's the key. Same at Utd - they didnt have any shape in his entire time there and were desperate to watch.

We're going exactly the same way (though without spending £300m)

We only have a shape for sitting back and defending - which we need. But we need an attacking shape too. Early days. I think Mourinho had a bit of a wake up call today. Can he respond and show leadership?

Everton had three creative players playing today. We dont have 3 in our squad
They had a very good DM in Allan
A genuine box to box man in Docoure (sissoko that can pass) abs Gomes who I thought was actually a passenger for them.
I wouldn’t say any are particularly creative hence why they didn’t actually have many decent shots. James was their main creator and was kinda playing inside left.

I nodded off to sleep 10 times in the first half.
The second half was much worse.
Hojbjerg was precisely as bad as I expected. Winks + Hojbjerg is SO pedestrian.

With Poch, you always felt if backed properly we'd come through because he has so much to give. Mourinho is a busted flush. He was at Man U. We all know it whether we want to admit it or not.

But he won the league cup and european league cup!!!!!!

I think we have a bit of an identity crisis T the moment. Pretending we’re a CL club because of the stadium and facilities. In terms of our squad and spending we’re an outsider. We don’t have more than 4-5 top class players (and some of them are inconsistent). The squad needs to know what they are - outsiders who have to fight to compete, improve their ability, and play above their level.

he’s an elite level player, it’s the same when Barca lose, it’s always Masai’s fault

yes he can be part of team goals, but look at his highlight reel, his greatest moments come from nothing, him picking the ball up deep or by the touch line, getting into space, defenders bouncing off of him before he smacks it in at 100 miles an hour from an impossible angle, that’s what we need from him

The biggest problem is that when he spins out wide and drops deep to pick up the ball as he is getting no service, no-one takes responsibility to get into spaces he should be in. Thus he has three around him at all times. Messi? Please. Great great player of course, but not exactly surrounded by the likes of Winks, Hojberg and Sissoko is he?

I said when poch left, the problem isn't the manager it's the players.
After watching the amazon doc I think Levy had to carry some of the can. Eriksen, Toby and Rose dont/didn't want to be here, but Levy is more concerned about financials than squad.

Again mate, nothing we didn't already know.

Felt for Dele
He was trying but it didn’t come off
Thought it was an odd sub unless he was injured

I rate Jose and I rate his ability to make game changing subs but that was beyond fudging dumb. Alli worked hard and was close to a couple of things coming off. I’d have sacrificed Moura before him but Jose likes Moura’s pace I think. And Ndombele was the fella to bring on. They were controlling the ball in midfield. Sissoko probably isn’t the fella to stop that and he was shunted out on the right anyway. A really odd and, I hate saying this, brainless sub that set us back even further in the game.

I’d imagine Alli is fuming.
