Harry Kane MBE

Drogba was also a fundamentally better footballer. Much better all round ability, touch, skill, use of weaker foot, intelligence...
At 26 he was - do you remember Drogbas first year or so - his touch was crap...

just looked at his stats to check I wasn't completely making up the point above and all it has reinforced just how good Kane is:

Games Goals
2004–05 26 10
2005–06 29 12
2006–07 36 20
2007–08 19 8
2008–09 24 5
2009–10 32 29
2010–11 36 11
2011–12 24 5

If Drogba is considered one of the best strikers in the PL era - Kanes record is already stronger.

Of course - this is a Kane thread and his record in incredible already.

I recall Drogba being surprisingly weak for such a big man, not something to be levelled at Lukaku
I also recall him being a genuinely good footballer, again not something to be levelled at Lukaku - for me.

Drogba won the CL single handed, dragged that Chelsea team through - I cannot imagine Lukaku doing the same.

Though ultimately, Kane tinkles all over both of them!

Now that the merry-go-round has started with Ronaldo to Juve, everyone is talking about Kane being his replacement. Do these fudges not know he just signed a new contract?

It's a no brainer for the no brainers though; Real desperately need a new galactico, and Kane is playing for, well, the unfashionable London team Spurs. That said, apart from Hazard and Salah, there aren't really anyone else that fits the bill in the PL, now that City can outspend anyone. And they aren't in a position to raid PSG either.

Will be interesting to see Real's next move. I'm fairly certain they're sniffing around Kane, but I'm even more certain he'll stay.

Kane is surely top of everyone’s list right now. I can’t see Madrid being interested in Hazard or Salah as neither has shown enough consistency.

I think there is something to their rumoured interest in Neymar, although it makes no sense to me.

With a new contract and new stadium on the horizon, it would probably feel like the wrong time for him to leave.

I really like this guy and props to Levy for getting him on a new contract before the WC. I really hope the new stadium allows us to keep our big star players although I do understand it's all part of the game. Kane is obviously different though :)

Salah and Neymar make sense, that have the profile and also the circus personality for it.
Harry is down to earth, like Owen and Bale - neither of which are the profile Real want

Alternatively......what is Ade doing these days??

Looked injured to me all tournament. Don't expect to see him in a Spurs shirt til September I'm afraid. Hopefully I'm wrong

He's taken so many beatings for the team, no wonder he looked as knackered as he did tonight. Sometimes it looked as if England's tactic was get it to Kane and make him get a free kick in a dangerous position.

He won't break the August hoodo this season either. Can see him getting rested and eased into the side - he definitely needs to recover now. I would hope Southgate rests him for the final game.
