Yves Bissouma

Frank has said there was a situation, he addressed it, there was a consequence, and he is available for tomorrow

Did Frank mention fining Bissouma for being late? As I see that is the stick which Enrique has used to keep his players punctual.

Considering how short of experience we are it does feel like a case of cutting off his nose to spite his face by dropping one of our star performers from the latter stages of Europa League win. Plus we were desperately lacking in press resistant players once Kudus went off; Solanke clearly nowhere near match sharp enough to do his usual holdup play.

You have to set standards and let people know if they can't meet them there are consequences no matter what game is coming up. Its disrespectful to the club, manager and teammates, the ball is in Bissoma court, he can behave like a man or a kid.

If it were one of our promising youngsters then I could get onboard with instilling that mindset but considering Bissouma will turn 29 this month and is probably going to be sold this window (as he’s now into final 12 months of contract) then we might as well have just fined him (£1000 per minute late seems to be typical at other clubs) and utilised his rarefied skill set one final time.

You're probably right I'm from a time when good manner meant something rather than the I do what I like lifestyle. Given all the hard work he's had to do to reach this level it shows a flaw in his character to me, if you can't trust him to carry out a simple task like turning up on time what can you trust him to do?

We knew when we bought Bissouma that he is far from the consummate professional, what with him getting a 6 month driving ban after being caught speeding 5 times by the same camera in little over a month whilst at Brighton; not sure if they were all due to him rushing to training though!

However he demonstrated in the knockout stages of EL that when he’s in the right frame of mind he is a formidable player and until we manage to sign another Dembele / Modric then he’s the most press resistant midfielder we’ve got in the current squad and that might’ve been the difference between victory and defeat when we were trying to see out the Super Cup game.

There is no excuse and its ridiculous to suggest the manager accepts a player who will do it when HE decides HE wants to, what example does that set others in the team? Can they all just do as they please?
Nobody or result is bigger than the club.

Hence why many top managers, such as Luis Enrique, have a policy of fining players €1000 per minute they arrive late for training to hit them in the pocket without harming the ability of the team to do their job and win games.

We’re going to ship Bissouma out either this window or the next and there’s sod all chance of a player entering the tail end of his career changing suddenly turning into a consummate professional, so surely best to fine him a few £thousand and give us the best possible chance of winning a European trophy IMHO; as not only would that boost Yves’ transfer value it’ll also make us a more desirable destination for those top drawer midfielders we’re hoping to upgrade him with.

Interesting that he doesn't have a photo in the new kit. Maybe that's when he was late? I say that half-joking.

Bryan Gil, who wasn't given a squad number, has his photo in the kit.

Maybe they did fine him & it didn't work so Frank wasn't left with any choice. i'm with you i think Biss is gone to be honest i'm surprised he is still with us
