Yoane Wissa

I think Richy is considerably better than Wissa. I woildnt say no to twisting on Richy, but on older inferior player isnt the way to go
I agree with the latter part
The issue with richy is he has shown he physically cannot play enough games for us
Wissa is a good player and a real poacher too but the money would have to be right..l and they aren’t asking for that kind of money

Everyone was injury prone under Ange. With Solanke, Lankshear and Tel, we've probably got the capacity to take a chance on him with some proper conditioning

Richy had a poor injury record at Everton
Our fans just didn’t see it
My best mates are ST holders there and as much as they loved him they always said he would be out too much at key times

Yes as he is now in his final year it would've increased. No way is he after a pay rise though as someone said on here, he just doesnt want the final year to be renegotiated to be spread over 2.
lets be honest you have no idea what his contract looks like. unless you are his agent or a relative you are guessing like the rest of us

I'm surprised at your mate's perception actually.

The stats don't actually support it. His injury history says he only missed 7 games over 3 seasons from 18/19 to 20/21. He then had the injuries before and after Xmas in the 21/22 season when Everton were in relegation trouble. He obviously came back from the second one and became the hero that kept them in the PL. So 20 games over 4 seasons, weighted heavily to the last one isn't so bad.

He has been a nightmare for us though. 58 games missed in 3 seasons. I still see the very strong case to let him go on the basis that he will break down again. I think he's always destined to break down. He's 28 with 2 years left on his contract, and currently fit, so we will never get more money than we'd get this summer.

The only logic for keeping him could be that the market doesn't have alternative options. We're obviously playing the numbers game with all these young strikers. Another one signed this week from Leeds. Sometimes, buying ourselves a year to give someone like Lanks a full season loan makes sense.

There's no outstanding candidates though are there. Just a few N'players we could take a punt on. If a Delap or Osimhen was on the table, the decision would be much clearer

That is the point. We also need to be true to our current strategy and be looking in the 21-25 age range so the squad developed together. Solanke is the senior striker and we don't need another one his age. We need a younger guy to replace Richi in my mind if we go down that path.

This is also trying to steer clear of Ange philosophy thinking. We knew that only certain type of number 9s were required for Ange's system. We all said that only Solanke and Richi would work. How do we know that Son, Tel or Johnson won't work for Frank because he plays a different system?

Perhaps we even have more strikers than we think even without Richi.

The reality is you need to look at who he missed pausing against and when it was
I did say it here when we signed him
It’s an issue when you look at just data without additional context
He was also a well known for not finishing games because of knocks

Delap would have been perfect but he went early and IMO won’t okay as much as he thought now they have brought in other players
