Joe Edwards explains the contrasting fortunes of Coventry City's new signings
Coventry City news from CoventryLive as Sky Blues assistant Joe Edwards explains why Yang Min-Hyeok's game time as been limited so farwww.coventrytelegraph.net
While Crystal Palace loan forward Romain Esse has started all three matches against Stokein the FA Cup and the Sky Bues two league wins over Leicester and Millwall, fellow new recruit Yang Min-Hyeok made his debut against the Potters but has been an unused sub in the two subsequent Championship games.
There are a number of reasons for that, not least the impressive form of left wing rival Ephron Mason-Clark, but City’s assistant boss Joe Edwards says the Tottenham player’s time will come.
“Mini’s come in and looked good in training, showed some really nice bits in the game against Stoke,” he said. “I think one of the difficult things for him is he’s come in to play predominantly on the left for us and Ephron is in outstanding form and physically in as good a condition as probably I’ve seen him since we’ve been here.”
I said at the time that he was unlikely to start for a good Coventry team. It was indeed a weird move for us to agree to.Said it at the time, he was getting consistent minutes and not just minutes but starts at Portsmouth. Since when do clubs cancel a loan just to loan to a better Championship team because they want more depth on the wings?
Whoever decided this has questions to answer, more chance of him getting minutes here with our injuries at the moment.....
At the time everyone seemed to say that the Coventry wingers weren't performing and it was an area they were really lacking creativity in and he would slot in well. I haven't followed them but I guess someone has stepped up their game and is keeping him out of the side... that or he has just been brick in training not looked good enough. Strange one ain't it?I said at the time that he was unlikely to start for a good Coventry team. It was indeed a weird move for us to agree to.
Before the window that was a fair assessment. But they bought in Romain Esse from Crystal Palace on loan in January, and also a permanent acquisition of Jahnoah Markelo from Zurich and both these guys have priority over Yang....At the time everyone seemed to say that the Coventry wingers weren't performing and it was an area they were really lacking creativity in and he would slot in well. Sakamoto has been really good for sometime and Mason-Clark was having a good season, there was next to no chance Yang was going to displace either of them so he was only ever going to be a bit part player and then the next day they sign Esse and then another winger on a permanent deal. And even Esse can't get into the side regular and I rate him highly
I just likely think the move was made in good will by all, Coventry wouldn't wanna take someone they didn't think would play, I just think he isn't up to speed.
I'm guessing that guy was born in 1993.![]()
Coventry City sent warning - Tottenham will have 'alarm bells ringing'
FLW's Coventry City Fan Pundit has weighed in on Yang Min-hyeok's move to the Sky Blues after a disappointing start.footballleagueworld.co.uk
They've got themselves cheap cover in. Smart move on their part, poor on our part. And even Esse can't get into the side regular and I rate him highly

Is it a case of being “Langed”?Sakamoto has been really good for sometime and Mason-Clark was having a good season, there was next to no chance Yang was going to displace either of them so he was only ever going to be a bit part player and then the next day they sign Esse and then another winger on a permanent deal.
There was never a good reason for us to tear up a loan contract where he was getting consistent starts in the Championship already, there was next to no upside to it.....
(for the PL2 team yes).Funny thing is he would be getting minutes for us right now.
