Didn't think he offered more than Gray after coming on. He's really doing that thing of thinking he deserves free kicks all the time and falling over easily to try and get them. Refs can see what he's doing and he's getting nothing.
Seems really obvious that what he needs is other players around him to play with and combine with. Sure he can do some things in his own, sure he can arrive in the box like he did for the one chance yesterday. But he needs that and players who can feed him the ball in between the lines. We are burying him. I genuinely have no idea why Frank sanctioned the purchase because he clearly does not seem to know what to do with him OR he is unwilling to flex shape and style to accomodate a player like him.

For 15 minutes yesterday he had that. Bergvall as one of the two deep midfielders. Not that he then himself was then awesome, but when was the last time he had that?
We have two players capable of doing that. Bergvall and Gray. Bergvall showed himself well capable of playing that role last season. Gray didn't because he played at the back, but on the rare occasion he's gotten to play there this season he imo has shown himself capable.
Frank's refusal to trust those two with a deep midfield role (one of them at the time) is my biggest frustration at the moment. I think that would also help Simons.
Just play it wide or long it's going to work out eventually? Surely it must be on his radar at least.Indeed.
Sadly, none of this seems to be either of interest to Frank, or on his radar.

Was quite happy before the game yesterday. Bergvall and Gray. Palhinha as the only one if him, Bentancur and Sarr. Surely now either Gray or Bergvall is finally trusted deep in midfield. Fulham at home, makes sense, this is the kind of game to start trusting them there. Get them on the ball a lot, let them play.
Nope. Just run box to box and hope the ball drops to you at some point.
it was a panic buy - looks like we really needed a second sporting director. paratici can save us but he's got to sell lots againWe are burying him. I genuinely have no idea why Frank sanctioned the purchase because he clearly does not seem to know what to do with him OR he is unwilling to flex shape and style to accomodate a player like him.
Desperation seemingly after not getting his first or second choice options. We are burying him. I genuinely have no idea why Frank sanctioned the purchase because he clearly does not seem to know what to do with him OR he is unwilling to flex shape and style to accomodate a player like him.
Shame really especially as we have next to no creativity in the team week in week outIt seems obvious to me now that Frank has no confidence in the kid.
Agreed.Shame really especially as we have next to no creativity in the team week in week out
If Xavi Simons had played in that Arsenal game against us in Eze position, he would have looked world class.Xavi looks a bit lightweight at the moment for the PL to me. As with anyone new to the league, could need a season to get used to the football/team mates/country. Bring him in slowly.
At the same time you are saying Frank should know his team by now.
If you say so.If Xavi Simons had played in that Arsenal game against us in Eze position, he would have looked world class.
Might have been dreaming last night but I’m sure I saw some crazy stat that said we are 19 points from 9 when Xavi starts, and 2 points from 8 games where he doesn’t start.
Before we played PSG we had only lost games with Bentina as the midfield duo of deathMight have been dreaming last night but I’m sure I saw some crazy stat that said we are 19 points from 9 when Xavi starts, and 2 points from 8 games where he doesn’t start.
