World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

Konsa on for Gorden (72 mins) handed them the momentum as they were no longer scared of us on the break.

Hate to say it, but Saka or Rashford coming on would have been a much better call.

Parking the bus with 25 mins left…no chance
Exactly, When did we become so scared? Back in the day you run yourself into the ground and then bring on subs like for like. Maybe a Dan Burn last 5mins if needed. We sat back as soon as we scored, against a side we were doing well against and not causing us issues

They can't say Tuchel got it tactically wrong. It was the same tactics as the other games. Just against a better side it doesn't work.(Most of the time)

You need different tactics for different opposition.

I think its more on the players than the manager TBH, there was some stupid mistakes and some awful laziness in that second half.

Not to say Tuchel is innocent, he made selection mistakes, and again, the team got worse after the first round of subs.

Basically this.

I think people questioning why England went defensive after the goal have been a bit circumspect and realise that the goal woke Argentina up and made them press high. As much as England looked ok pre the goal, they weren't actually creating any chances I think the goal was literally the only shot up to that point.

The pattern of the game was similar to the Mexico and Norway games, when faced against a superior midfield England massively struggle to play around them. There's no dictator, our passing is so bread and butter. Loon at how Argentina played through the lines and into tight spaces.

The truth for me is I don't think England actually could attack in the 2nd half and the pressure wasn't invited, it was forced.

Really disappointing. Totally stupid to decide to stop attacking with 1/4 of the match still left.

As you say, since when did we just take off attackers for no reason. Nobody does this.

We totally threw that away.
