What would YOUR priority signing be in the Jan transfer window?

Semenyo is 25, who knows how good, or bad, Odobert, tel, gray, Bergvall etc will be by then, he's at least three years ahead of them in development.
I love us buying these youngsters, but we should be supplementing them with others further along the line, like kulu was, and some ready made.
Yes indeed, it's the right path for us to go down and I think we have a lot of talent that will flourish. Kulu was only 21 or 22 when he joined so pretty young himself and still only 25 :)

For sure, I don't doubt they will, but that the standard not so much the individuals we should be looking at

I can't stomach seeing us sign another run of mill LW when we have signed Odobert, Tel...................for example
Yeah It's a tough balance to get right. Finding a player more established who can hit the ground running with good quality (doesn't have to already be in the PL). And also to get in ahead of other big clubs who are maybe more attractive, very tough.

If we can't then I say just persevere with that young ones we have already and let them sink or swim, like you say we don't need another new shiny Odobert/Tel just for the sake of it....

Same, there is no point creating a backlog of promise at LW, you may as well develop one, otherwise that then becomes a waste of 40m a player or whatever we paid.

I’d throw the lot at him TBH
That’s a game changing signing

Must be nice to have a midfielder who can do it all… closest we’ve had in recent years was pre-injury Bentancur but sadly don’t look like he’ll ever reach those heights again following that ACL surgery.

Semenyo probably wants to go to Arsenal. And tbh they should go for him. As should Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool and Chelsea.
I haven't watched enough of Semenyo but I saw someone on Twitter mentioning how he is not technically a good enough passer (Which is what we are lacking) and that Ndiaye and Nusa etc would be better suited. Not sure what its based on. I'd be happy with any of them to be honest.

The problem is players like Semenyo and Anderson will have better options - from an unbiased view we aren't that attractive, we certainly won't be in Champions League next season and doubtful will have any European football at all. And top attacking players are hardly going to be looking at how we play football and think 'Yeah, I want in on that'.

We have to get these players before they become the level Semenyo is at now when almost any PL team would take him now. Hence why we recruit the way we do with potential, but our buys still seem some way off getting to that level (but I believe some of them still can get there)....
I agree with your first paragraph.

However, if we go out of the CL in the round of 32 (as is quite possible) and then prioritise the PL we should have a good shout of finishing in a European place (though it might only be the conference league). We probably have to hope that a top 5 team also win the FA Cup and then 7th place would get us Europa (which we'd have a chance of winning again)

We're interested in Yan Diomande from Leipzig according to swiss Sky Sports.
He is skilful and powerful. Uses both feet and can beat a player from a standing start. He is still very raw but should go on to become a top player.
In many ways he is quite similar to Kudus but plays from the left as opposed to the right. From what I have seen he is a bit faster than Kudus.

Whenever I had seen him mentioned previously it was him being linked to Liverpool and Barcelona (mainly Liverpool).

We can but dream… how many more loans can our owners take out?!

Crikey. How can Bentancur have a duel success rate of 20%, that is mostly what he is there to do. He certainly isn't there for his progressive brilliance, ability to receive and turn, or haircut.

Given that Palhinha is old and on loan, and given Bentancur's duel success rate, I can see us prioritising that pivot point with our next purchase.

I saw Elliot Anderson play once for Saudi Sportswashing Machine, on TV, and thought he looked reeeeeeally good but probably unavailable. Shame.
We need to winkle these fellas out sooner.
Miley looks quite good, but I guess Bergvall/Gray are our versions of him.
I've never seen Hayden Hackney play, but people say he is good.

The good thing is, there is always another 10 players on the production line every year, we just need to pick one.
Or trust Bergvall/Gray to actually PLAY and go for it.
