Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

So our league form continues and we are hovering above the bottom 3 after a quarter of the season and we sack him. That close bond you speak of means the players are devastated mid season and our form spirals further with an inexperienced interim coaching set up unable to arrest it while we are playing CL and PL And we are in the bottom 3 by January and in an absolute doom spiral. How unrealistic is that scenario and is that a risk we can afford to take?
Or we get rid of Ange, some players aren't happy and look for a way out. Not all the players get their way, are stuck here and make things difficult for the new manager. As a result we start off terrible and lose 10 out of 10. Fans go nuts and tear down the stadium. We can all talk absolute bollox and spin any scenario into one of doom. And yes, your scenario is unrealistic.

More than just the fans, the players - they are clearly close to the manager, Bissouma and others have described him as a father figure. This experience will only have added to that bond. To sack him after achieving this? That's not going to go down well.

If this doesn't all help in improving our league form in the first couple of months next season then fine, it's time to say thanks for the memories. But to not give Ange the opportunity to prove himself at the start of next season I think would be wrong on a few levels....

I can agree that there is a level of disruption that comes with changing managers. Do we need that right now?

As fans we don't have the insights into what conversations Munn is having with his direct reports. As the head of football operations, he has delivered a trophy but must be informing Ange that he needs to find a higher level of performance in his role. I admired Munn for not shooting from the hip when he could have pulled the trigger at the end of 2024. My instinct is saying that had Levy been running ops we might have seen that happen. Sometimes it is OK to continue with an employee knowing that they are not performing in all facets in their job. It depends on how the employee is to taking feedback on them. Ange needs to be receptive to acknowledging where he is underperforming and putting action plans in place. Perhaps that conversation has evolved and therefore Ange admitted privately that his methods weren't working. Perhaps Munn suggested that they were too idealistic for the environment Ange was working in. We've definitely seen Ange evolving right?

One thing I do feel is that there does seem to be harmony at the leadership level. No surprise to me that Levy putting this new structure in place has landed a trophy, even managing his own weaknesses in the execution of that plan. You have to admire him for finally doing it. Fans like me were talking about this over a decade ago.

There is an inevitability about this in any club I guess. When you think back, Fergie or Pep had challenges with players wanting out. The players hold the party line if they're good professionals. They say the right things but also manage their careers.

It reminds me of the famous conversation KDB had with Jose at Chelsea. He knew he wasn't getting a fair deal from his manager and stayed polite even when Jose through a load of erroneous stats in his face in a private meeting. Jose was doing his normal gaslighting thing and KDB just owned him. He was gone from that very meeting and never looked back.

As decorated as Laporte was, he knew there was a time to move on. Wenger lost all his captains in the transfer market for a 5 year period as well. You wouldn't catch any of them talking the club down though.

As Spurs fans we will have to admit that players will be unhappy whether they're the regular first teamers or the squad players. Winning the EL has perhaps made a few a little less loose in the saddle.

It wasn't a serious post, a far fetched post on what could happen if Ange is sacked, in response to a fat fetched post on what could happen if Ange stayed.

Tommy I hope youre right mate I really do. Would you agree that next season is make or break for him though?

What would your idea of a successful season be for next season?

He's earned enough credit to start the season as manager.

I think if he starts off as he finished this season on the PL he will be gone by November, i mean does he plan t abandon the PL in January 2026 again?

We were lucky that three really poor teams were below us as put points total in previous seasons would have seen us relegated.

The EL win has glossed over more than we think.

Jose won the league that year.

Some of the players have described him as a father figure.
Maybe that works out and it inspires them.
Or maybe they, like me and a lot of people, discover that your dad is a bit of an arse and talks crap. But you still love him, you just accept that and move on.
You forge other relationships, friendships and bonds.
It's better they find out for themselves which one it will be.

TBF I think the reactions at the game in the parade and to his speech speak for themselves.

I didn't think he would win it, I was wrong, I dno't think he is long term manager........I might be wrong again, but lets not take away moments that are clear as day mate.

I hate people telling people how to be fans so I apologise in advance for this mate, but its more a wish for you........enjoy it mate, enjoy the fact we won a major trophy, its what this is all about, there are 90+ professional teams in this country and we won a major Cup above not only all them but our peers across Europe......light a cigar and have a Russ Abbott moment...........
You didn't think he'd win it? It's a one off game against a team one place above us in the PL table. It was a 50/50 toss up.

Certainly has for some. Someone just said that us being in the bottom 3 by January next season was unrealistic. Based on what? Blind faith?
