Vinai Venkatesham - CEO

Plenty of very cynical comments on Vinai's performance in the interview on other forums , interesting to hear that Viv Lewis went on the pre season tour , she must have seen more Spurs games live than her father ever has.

Am I just too gullible thought he came over quite well and the fact that Charrington has named names and forced them to either to put up or shut by 5th Oct is also very refreshing when it comes to takeover rumours.

I think the big change is the subtle one. We went years and years with Joe and Tavistock being silent and Levy being always present but mostly quiet publicly. All the comms came through the 1st team manager. It was clearly an ENIC man running the club and being accountable to.......you've guessed it, mostly ENIC. I think we've ended up way closer to Tavistock and the Lewis's.

What we have now is different. We have the Lewis family more interested than ever, but not Joe obviously. We have a CEO that is more public facing and taking some of the heat from the 1st team manager. We have a Lewis appointment in Charrington who is a director at ENIC but way closer to the Lewis's and Tavistock side due to his Bahamas connections.

My guess is that the Lewis family deeply inspected what they expected NEXT from Levy and ENIC. It was so natural to remove one of his 2 duties i.e. CEO and Chairman. I thought they had bifurcated those 2 roles with the introduction of Vinai. They actually removed both from Daniel and that may have been a willing choice.

I'm still on the fence a little with that one. Perhaps it wasn't.

There is no ENIC, other than THFC. In the late 90s Joe Lewis created ENIC for Levy to run football clubs (soon consolidated into club), whilst Charlie Lewis took on the restaurant chains through Tavistock. It was de facto passing business inherence on to his anointed heirs. ENIC has never been anything else other than a shell to own THFC through.

I thought he came across well. What else did people expect?

That’s not Charrington though is it, it’s the Takeover Panel requirement. Presumably because rumours of a sale have stepped up in the past few days.

VV literally said in the video that he expected to work with Levy for many years

Something big has obviously happened very recently.
You don't let the guy you're planning to sack hire a manager, let him appoint other board members (VV) or loose with your transfer budget.
Just like you don't wait until the transfer budget is spent before acting.
If they were unhappy with how mgw and Eze went why wait until the window closed.
Doesn’t add up.

They would have wanted to see how it would be turned around and I suspect gave a firm direction that it HAD to be turned around.
The awful publicity around the failed transfers was exactly what the Lewis's would not have wanted. But once the window was shut, time to act.

I agree, but what about the awful publicity when we appointed Ange? How many failed attempts to find a manager was there? I’m assuming this time round it’s because the kids are now fully immersed in the business and they’re more aware of the optics

. Well why not release the funds to get the deals done.
I don't think it would have made any difference with Eze, but we could have tested forests resolve with big bid. Think of the positive reaction then.
Spurs finally go big.
Doesn’t add up for me.

It was pretty clear during the interview published today, that Vinai was not expecting Levy to leave.

That makes the above comment about something changing in a very short space of time hold a lot of water to me. Vinai was settled in to be the CEO to Levy's chairman. How undermined he would have felt in time by this we will never know, but for whatever reasons someone in the Lewis/ENIC structure decided things had to change.

If I had to guess why, I would say it had more to do with outgoings than incomings, we have signed players with resale in mind, and then failed to sell them for years and years. If they reviewed the reasons Ange wasn't able to improve the situation, beyond his own inflexibility then the amount of dead wood clearance that was needed has to figure high on the list, and we have perennially done this. Search the word "deadwood" on here and see how many times that has been the complaints of a fan looking at a new manager. It's huge.

Don't know the actual legalities of it all but from the statement it's actual offers received not just rumours and the person issuing the statement is Charrington.

The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited (“Tottenham Hotspur”, the “Club” or the “Company”) is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd (“ENIC”), has received, and unequivocally rejected, separate preliminary expressions of interest in relation to proposals to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of ENIC from (i) PCP International Finance Limited (“PCP”); and (ii) a consortium of investors led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited (the “Consortium”).

The person responsible for arranging the release of this announcement on behalf of Tottenham Hotspur is Peter Charrington (Non-Executive Chairman).

Honestly .,, felt like a sale pitch to me only offering nothing
Almost targeting the audience who wanted levy out to get them on board
Can’t wait to hear what song they come up with ….

I don’t care about eeeerrrr how do I say it, well he don’t care about me ….

I get your point, but Lewis and the Tavistock group never really seemed to focus on THFC/ENIC as a subsidiary. It's not just restaurants either. There are a lot of diverse businesses in the 21 different investments. It was if the 2 things were mutually exclusive.

That seems to have changed in this iteration.

I meant that the ramp up in rumours have meant the Takeover Code was triggered and the club was obliged to make a statement to flush out whether the informal bids being discussed are actually serious. I don’t think Charrington voluntarily decided to make the statement off his own back.
