Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

If the bloke in the VAR box hadn't been tidying up and getting ready to go home they might have had a chance to tell him it was a clear and obvious error, that's assuming they know the rules.
Apparently, giving the ball to the wrong team is just a minor error and nothing to worry about.

It's not a minor error but it didn't lead directly to the goal. Forest had almost 2 mins before Liverpool scored.
But like in life, it did fundamentally change what might have happened. Pool could have scored three different goal sin the time added on, or non at all. But they wouldn't have scored THAT goal (unless Forest dawdled with the ball on the edge of their box again).

Those things exist in every single match though. The throw-in that was given the wrong way lead to a corner which lead to a goal. The free kick from which a goal was scored that was just a player diving but VAR can’t review. Many examples of it.

Those are different, because they are subjective decisions. This is a factual wrong decision.

What's the difference between a throw-in given the wrong way and a drop-ball being given the wrong way? They're both factually wrong and refereeing mistakes that can precede goals being scored.

A throw in or free kick is based on what the referee sees (or think he sees). The drop ball to wrong team situation we had there, is a factual wrong decision, as the rules are black and white. There's no subjective element to it.

I don’t understand how a throw-in is subjective. Sure, a referee might think it came off someone else (in the same way the referee thought it was Liverpool's ball from the drop-ball) but that doesn’t change the fact that it comes off someone or it doesn’t. Very different to a foul.

That’s the subjective part… the award if the throw in
he dropped the game for a head injury … that’s a fact and isn’t subjective (although it looked like the player was faking it)

I think any player going down with a head injury and stopping the game should be made to leave the field of play and have a comprehensive concussion check from an independent doctor. That would stop that sort of fakery. I also think that if a player needs medical treatment after a foul has been give, both the inured player and the player who was penalized for the foul should be BOTH made to leave the field of play until let back in.

What if it’s two players on the same team colliding?
