Transfer thread

Man Utd seeming to get Santos and Tielemans while we have Fernandes and Tonali seems like the most shocking role-reversal.
It’s hard enough for me to accept this is happening but if, 2 or 3 months ago, you’d told Man Utd fans these four transfers would play out the way they have…billions of burst blood vessels.

I think there has been a body-swap between our respective owner's...they are now being run on a business-first philosophy (ref: THFC 2007-2025) whereas as we are now spending against our PSR allowance (ref: MUFC post-SAF).

They will have to, especially with Ugarte injured.

Tielemans, Bruno, Santos, Mount, and Mainoo are the only healthy, senior midfielders they have.

Gomes from Wolves, Alex Scott, Baleba, and Manu Kone from Roma are the links I saw with United a few days ago after Tielemans looked done.

Jeez there's no running in that midfield at all, they'll get outrrun next season if they don't make some more signings.

Any combo or Tielmans, Santos & Mainoo together gets completely outran in the Prem.

We are well within our means of PSR in fact we still have around £230m to play with according to reports

Not being in the cl is about £100m of that. Although not being in europe at all means we can spend 85% of our turnover on amortisation + wages + agents fees. Rather than 70%. That hopefully is this season only.
The only one who really crunches the numbers club by club (apart from the clubs and pl) is swiss ramble but he's stuck behind a paywall these days.

some weird alternate reality role reversal here...

What's hilarious is realizing how the media treats the two clubs.

If we had tried for Fernandes and Anderson and ended up with Santos and Tielemans, the knives would be out from both the media and our own fans.

Instead, social media is flooded with how good a signing Tielemans is for them and how Chelsea didn't really want to sell Santos ..

I’ve also seen plenty of places, social media and mainstream media alike pushing the narrative that Santos and Tielemans together cost the same as Fernandes and that United got the better deal. This includes The Overlap Breakdown YouTube channel that spent months salivating at the mouth at the prospect of Fernandes in a United shirt.

They managed to get 3rd with Bruno and Casemiro. Think what they've got is an improvement.

Casemiro turned out to be pretty good, when he first joined he looked well off the pace and didn't have the legs to track back but once he adjusted his positional sense meant he could get away with that. Chipped in with a fair few goals as well. Wouldn't say value for money based on his wages but showed what someone experienced can do.

They got 3rd in a league season where Liverpool, Chelsea and us, all brick the bed and they had one game a week, and the players were just delighted not to be playing Amorim ball.

I think United really is the most basket case club
- Came 15th, lost EL final against us
- Spend big on front line with proven quality but somehow keep brick manager
- Get rid of brick manager, get 3rd on basis of that front line improvement and one game a week
- Go "cheap" on midfield overhaul in a season with CL football and an inexperienced manager.

In reality, they should have spent exactly what they did on front line last year, on midfield this year and imo, if truly ruthless they should have gone for someone other than Carrick. Long may it continue

When he was 18 or so he was sent a snapchat picture or video or whatever of a girl that he then passed on to a friend, not knowing she was underage. Something like that. So I wouldn't exactly call it kiddy porn conviction!
The video contained the abuse of two male children. And he got a 14 day sentence for it. So it is exactly that

I do believe in restorative justice, but sexual crimes are amongst the hardest to forgive

As far as I've gathered there was no abuse involved in the video, though sharing a private video of two people under the age of 18 being sexual of course wasn't very nice.
