I think what someone needs to do is come out and say its almost impossible to get deals done for top class talents in January and that we are giving TF the time to work out the players he wants and doesn't and we will go big in the summer. Thats the best solution rather than longing it out, bringing in mediocre players and having the fans in the unknown. You will probably still get boo's etc but as fans know he won't be getting the sack it may calm them down a little but i very much doubt it.

This. And Vinai needs to be the one to do it. He was plenty visible when he joined with his glasses of red with DL and his chummy chats at the training ground. Where is he now? In fact where is any figurehead of the board now DL has gone and the brick is hitting the fan

I agree but there needs to be some sort of plan for now, or at least some talk of how they see it - Richy, Bergvall, Kudus, Kulu, Maddison, Bentancur are all out potentially for long periods of time still. So how do we fill those holes in the squad in the meantime?

I know you can’t go and buy a whole heap of talent to replace them just like that in January. But are we considering keeping some of our loan players back, are we comfortable using the likes of LWB not just in the squad but actually in the match day 11. I just think gove fans an idea that there is a plan here and not just a case of, “we’ve loads of injuries, but we’re not really looking as it’s difficult in January” (I appreciate that isn’t what you’re saying but hopefully makes some sense).

Our injuries are massively limiting us and will potentially lead to us overplaying others and potentially injuring them too. What’s the plan for the squad and recruitment here, short and long term.

We can't send/sell many more without bringing players in

I know a lot of reports won't happen, but there seems to be a lot more linking players out than in.

He and Odobert and have been the bright sparks recently, would be stupid to send him out on loan.

Most likely the best we'll do is a couple of experienced loans (like Danjuna) and 1 or 2 youngsters (like Souza).
We could maybe sign one or two players on loan, who are frozen out at their current club, if we were willing to pay silly wages. You kow, the Ndombeles of other clubs. Oh, wait...

Also on the brink of sacking a manager, how would you convince someone good to join? “I want you to play this role if I’m still in the job a few days from now” - then some other geezer comes in that doesn’t rate the player in question at all. I reckon it’s the Souza’s of this world we have a chance of signing.

And that is criminal negligence

If you had done the homework in December, brought them in on the 1st of Jan, you would have a lot less sell and they might have actually made a difference.

The words of Jan Vertonghen when he joined, if the pay is right players will come.

'I am 25 years old now and I feel ready to play in the Premier League. I heard that Harry Redknapp really wanted me to play for Tottenham, but now it's Andre Villas-Boas. To me, that doesn't matter.

Slightly different circumstances back then though… as we’d just finished 5th in the PL plus made the QFs of the CL and AVB’s stock was still fairly high as it was only 2 years after he lead Porto to EL glory.

Jan must’ve also relished the prospect of playing alongside (the reigning PFA Player of the Year) Bale and van der Vaart plus Modric hadn’t yet gone on strike when Vertonghen signed for us.

Can’t imagine playing Frank-ball in front of a crowd who regularly boo our injury ravaged team off the pitch is quite such an appealing prospect!

But everyone knows Frank and Lange wont make June. And that there arent funds available. So why flimflam and encure even more ire?

FWIW, rumour that we bid for Brahim Diaz

If we are buying, players in AFCON could explain delays if we want to be kind
Seems hard to believe. He's technically good, but is very similar to Simons. And is also known for struggling with physicality/being a bit lightweight, which doesnt bode well for an EPL move

If there aren't funds available whats the point of sacking him and getting someone else in to manage a tinkle poor squad? who would take on a job knowing they won't be backed?

Mainly because our manager salaries are 2-4 times what most clubs pay.

I suppose it's a challenge for someone who backs themselves. Qualify for the CL and we'll loan you £100m from future revenue to try and repeat the trick

But you're not qualifying for the CL this season regardless. You might as well wait until the summer and have a nice fresh start rather than getting tainted the remnants of this season. Our fans are not circumspect enough to give an allowance to a new guy to find his feet. Remember as most see it Frank is the problem, so a new guy will be better almost immediately.
