Because we haven’t seen him do anything yet
I like him
Myself and @Finney Is Back were the advocates for buying him before it became public.. weirdly a few days before
But he needs to deliver at this level to be judged. From what I’ve seen of him for us, so far, his decision making is poor. That will grow and change with coaching
Semenyo is the most disciplined of the lot and HG too. He is also the most flexible IMO but would be my 4th choice of the 4
Indeed. When I said that Odobert would be a good signing for us a day or two before we signed him, I had said that he would be a sensible player to buy but then loan back to Burnley so that he could get another full season playing in England under his belt. I still think he is probably a year of regular football away from being a decent premier league level player but there is loads of upside with him.

We have similar with Tel, who I think we'll start to see the value of in season 26/27.

I'd look at it differently.

Who do we think we will/should sell?

Bissouma? Richarlison? Bentancur? Romero? Davies?

Focus our efforts upgrading them.

Maybe a rw. Although odobert has shown in the u21s euros he's happy playing there.
Hojbjerg (already gone). Gill, Solomon. All go without us noticing and they probably net us £35m or so.
Richarlison can go for the right fee (probably £30m upwards). Could perhaps get Jonathan David on a free to replace.
Bissouma should go because he has a year left and hasn't shown enough consistency to indicate he is a top 6 player.
Romero should be sold if a bid comes in close to £60m. I don't think he will sign a new contract so we either need to sell him this summer or accept that we may only be able to get £30-£40m next summer. Suspect the club already purchased his replacement in Danso.
Son if a bid of £25m or more comes in for him. He has been a great servant and has huge commercial value to the club but we'll lose that no matter what in a year's time so we might as well get some funds in for him and use those to put towards another player.

Disagree. Buying the odd 30 year old to supplement a very young team is often a very sensible thing to do.

I get the logic but when has it ever worked well for Spurs?

Palinha is a great example. He has just missed 84 days or 17 games for BM with 2 separate injuries. Capology has him at close to 200k Euros a week. In your mind, are we supposed to give him a 3 or 4 year contract. He might not even settle for less than 4 years anyway if he agrees to leave BM and not back himself to have a better second season.

I'm not sure I could watch another Scotty Parker at our club. Great first half of 2 consecutive seasons and blowing out his arse after Xmas. Never mobile enough and just doing pirhouettes in the centre circle. We needed Parker when he left Charlton, not the mercenary one that took money over football all his career prior to joining us.

Personally, I'd rather we found a 25 year old with relevant experience. I loved the Toby signing at 25/26 and it's guys like that who will get me excited. We got our leadership either way there and didn't need to buy a 30 year old.

From what I’ve seen and hear we aren’t after a 6
We haven’t actually been linked to any other than Cardoso

I think Frank will want to see Bentancur, Gray and Bissouma up close before making a decision on if one is necessary. Maybe even George Abbott comes into the picture.

Employing a double pivot changes the whole suitability and capability of all our CMs

Are you really forgetting one of greatest ever signings in Noureddine Naybet??

Veliz also pretty close to done

I think he would know those players pretty well, plus what he will get briefed on.

Well that's just not true, even just a quick browse from April time there's been plenty saying the same thing:

'There are plenty of players that have burst on to the scene and faded quickly and we’ve had more than our fair share of those.
He reminds me of most of the players in my sons under 11 league. Very few actually lift up their heads and work out whats going on around them, they end up missing easy opportunities because they rarely consider a pass as the best option.
Whoever scouted him must have realised this and hoped they could coach him. But that’s not really the kind of thing that a player that has cost several million pounds should need to be taught. As with kids football you can just tell which ones are going to be any good by seeing how well they cover the basics. Kudus has some glaring holes in his ability as a professional footballer.'

'Two or three times yesterday he had the ball centrally in absolute prime position to play a simple through ball to Bowen exactly like the winner in Prague.

Instead he did nothing but look at the ground and dribble either into losing possession or to ultimately slow the game down, turn back and pass it to a full back.

I can’t wait to sell this player if we get a good fee. He can have the best lower body strength in the Premier League all he wants, means absolutely nothing if he cannot see the game of football.

Never mind the sublime to the ridiculous Paqueta. This is the infuriating talent in the team.'

'Other than being a strong runner with the ball, what else does he have?

Even his ten yard pass to Fullkrug for our goal was poor.

His all round game is lacking as is his level of consistency. He's nowhere near too good for us, in fact he's teetering towards the other end of that conversation.'
Reading KUMB like the bible...

Since when did the opinion of West ham fans become certain facts?

Well, I'd take the opinion of the fans supporters who watch him play week in week out over Spurs fans.

But the point wasn't even that, it was that they aren't all of a sudden saying negative things because he's linked to Spurs - they have been saying it for some time. In fact even some on here who want him have acknowledged he has been poor this season....

Eze, Kudus, Semenyo, Mbuemo
All would give us that extra but of ball carrying we haven’t had for some time
Deki does it
Tel does
That’s about it and it’s massive in the modern game
Add in that two of those players make the time for themselves
These are the kind of footballers I’d pay to watch
Tel attempts to dribble, he's quite unsuccessful at doing it though. I'm not sure if holding him as a player who will carry the ball is that accurate. statistically there's very little between him and Odobert dribble wise with Odobert having the slightly better percentage but with a fewer attempts.

Could it be that Odobert just needs another pre-season? He had a decent season before he joined us and then literally got injured as our season began. Then he was trying to rebuild the confidence in his body after a long time out. That impacts your decision making until you really get back into the swing of things.

I've barely seen him play to be fair.
He needs rime
Be is a kid
I’m fine with that
Doesn’t mean I don’t like him, just I can’t rate him yet

Loved Naybet. It can work when they sign one year deals and cost £700k.

Do you see any of them in this marketplace?

Naybet signed a two year deal and such an player if we found an appropriate one would too.

Wages, i guess will depend on us and them being flexible. It would work if we have a definite plan as to how to use their knowledge and experience.

I suspect there would be a few in this market place but playing on the continent (those here would likely be much more expensive than we'd be prepared to pay)

I think we already have our Naybet in Davies.
Experienced and cheap, perfect to help the young CBs learn their role.

When they are all saying pretty much the same thing (Bowen is reliable, Kudus is streaky), I think you can take that as general opinion.

Bowen is a very good player, and if he was available, I think a few clubs would be after him

Kudus wasn't streaky in his first season, he scored 17 goals, 7 assists, basically carried their EL campaign.

Manager change, wheels kind of came off for them, supposedly some disconnect between him and Potter, so second season harder to evaluate.

Strong, quick, carries ball, someone described him as the anti-Johnson, i.e. has all the attributes to get the ball to goal, not quite the finisher (Johnson is opposite)
