Transfer thread

Hayden Hackney going to Ipswich for £15m
Millot going to Atletico for £20m
2 very gets me players who fix issues in the team
Then we had a great left back go to Milan for £17M in Estupian
These are deals that would progress the squad
They are also the type of signing that would have half the fanbase in meltdown over "Where's the ambition? Blah blah"

Im guessing the club have other players on their list. Let's wait and see. Kudos came out of nowhere, maybe others will too

Dunno.
I think they are more like the Danso deal in that we know as fans they could be anything but will give them a chance
I do agree that they aren’t the signings that wet the appetite but that’s not how you build the best teams

Exactly we have signed some top top players but some people will never be satisfied. I won’t hear a bad word about our transfer strategy. We do spend lots of money and buy lots of players. It’s just a matter of time the strategy will pay off in the very very long term

One extreme to the other i see. ;)

We rarely seem to make these kind of transfers, it slightly baffles me. Decent quality players with large upsides that are available for good prices.

I don't know if we think they aren't good enough but we miss transfers like these constantly and it feels like we end up rueing not making those transfers.

We end up fighting to get them for £70m later on
It’s the food chain in football
But… I’d rather sign these and build on it
Jibe Bellingham would have been another one

I get it, but would also add that our squad is rammed at this time. Adding another 3 or 4 of these younger players with a load of potential without the equivalent 3 or 4 departures may not make sense.

I think Spurs are after one elite signing next and that's where the budget will be allocated.

I'm not convinced by Hackney. I think he might end up a bottom half EPL stalwart, but he's ceiling isn't as high as Gray/Bergvall/Sarr etc.

These aren’t younger players like that
Millot is 23
Hackney is too I think
They have a LOT of experience behind them and just haven’t had the chance yet to step up

That would be my strategy. I would swap Davies for Mitchell, but then otherwise blow absolutely everything on the best goalscoring CF we can afford.

I think he has it in the same way Gerard did (not as good) in that he knows where to be and also has a knack of getting onto things
He has learned loads under carrick who was the master of the deep lying role

I don’t think Hackney is good enough.

Millot you know my opinion on. He was a player I suggested would be great for us before the window opened.

I like Estupian and think he would’ve been a sensible player to have as competition for Udogie.

Mitchell is really poor at progressing the ball, can’t dribble and doesnt have any ability for progressive passes. I don’t think he would be a good option for competition/cover for Udogie:

I think all 3 are players that would just be bloody sensible
I appreciate we have many to shift
But these would add quality as well as depth
I rate Hackney and think he will step up. He just seems to get it for me but we will see on that one

Robinson would be my pick
Or ideally we get a right side option in and use Spence where I think he is best which is on the left

Thats your opinion but probably not the managers / clubs. This is why we sit on a forum talking about the whats if’s and the scouts, manager, chairman are earning the big bucks.
