Transfer thread

Yeah. I'm sure we could agree terms with Brentford. But we're not going to offer him the same wages.

He's asked for 250K, while United are certainly capable of paying that, not sure new ownership is going to be delighted to pay that.

We have CL, a manager he knows (and made him the player he is), likely a similar system, they have a brand, wage advantage and a circus.

Will be interesting.

Ah fair enough. For some reason I thought they'd agreed terms with the player, and but they were then oddly baulking at Brentford's valuation.

The logical, football based decision would be choosing Spurs over Manure. He knows the boss and we are a better side than them ATM. Also we have CL.

Money, possibly prestige (although Manure are not the powerhouse they once where), is what they can offer more so than us.

The 250K wages thing, it is really od in that it got me thinking it is really not in Man Utd's interest to have it leaked if they are indeed offering that to a player. What will they then have to offer other players they might go for this summer?? Really odd ans self-defeating in their current drive to cut the wage bill etc.

No-one else would pay that unless City were to get involved....and hence the player becomes beyond the reach of most of the top sides in the PL/Europe (those kind of wages is what you might think would get you someone like Ousmane Dembele, not a guy who has been good but only just hit the 20 gaols a season once in is career).

So, is the 250K a week even real? Is it the kind of wages Man Utd have leaked to make it that if they can't buy him no-one else can/will??

Pool fans are freaking out, somehow he's even more of a traitor because he's trying to speak Spanish .. they really are a weird/deluded fudging lot

He has probably been learning Spanish for a year or two preparing for his move though, which is funny. I see Pool fans, who probably barely speak English, mock him for his Spanish though, which is just ludicrous. Strange bunch.

Does look good whenever I see him play but noticed that Wharton hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes since last September, hopefully just needs a full pre-season to get back up to speed following the surgery he underwent last November.
always a worry
if actually go for Hayden Hackney now if I was us
Older tab Wharton but still young. Tonnes of experience and a ball playing midfielder who has learned from a master in that role

1.5 years difference, not really significant.
Both have the same number of games in adult football.
Wharton has shown what he can do in the PL.
Hackney has the risk of not stepping up a level.

If cost is a concern, then Hackney is a good shout. But isn't the best option....Grey? I think we already have the player we want, and he looks class.
Bentancur, Grey, Bergvall and Sarr seems really good.

I actually don't think we need any signings. But a wide forward upgrade or option wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe two, with one that can play CF too. (I'd like to see Johnson at CF too - ball in behind, pace, instinctive finish. Bang.)
