I think its probably just realism. That we'll likely get Lloyd Kelly and Lloris will leave, and that will be it. So not really worth imagining much else
How long is Kelly injured for?
Pointless signing a long term injury in Jan

Yeah it was only a little hamstring pull wasnt it, quite a bit more minor than van de Ven'sBack by the end of this month

just how much do we think we have to spend? is there leftover from the cash injection by the owners and have we spent everything from Kane's sale? is the regular annual transfer budget increasing due to increased revenues from non-football business?Ange confirms planning is already happening for Jan. Sounds positive

I think our FFP is a bit iffy from the Covid/Mourinho/Conte years (3 years of loss making), so the Kane money might be needed to balance those historic issues. With the rolling averages method that is used, it might be best not to spend anything much until next financial year (ie the summer)just how much do we think we have to spend? is there leftover from the cash injection by the owners and have we spent everything from Kane's sale? is the regular annual transfer budget increasing due to increased revenues from non-football business?
We didn‘t have anything like that much leeway. We were will within FFP last year.
So it shouldn't be an issue (we had about £400m we could spend last Jan).
It's more about how much we have to actually spend
Dier, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Gil could all move on. Hopefully we don't get Ndombele back though...

I'm going off this article, but could be a fre years old.
Rules are changing for the prem as of next season. To come more in line with uefas. It won't be a 3 year rolling. But a percentage of turnover. Uefas will be 70% can be spent on amortisation, agents fees and wages (90% this year, 80% as of jan, then 70% the year after).
We can spend though.
Which should see transfer fees come down and clubs be cautious about who they sign - carrying a Ndombele would be tough.Rules are changing for the prem as of next season. I'm guessing clubs won't want to lose out too much Vs the initial price they paid.
Will be a tough market for ins and outs going forward.
Possibly. Wages have come down recently. Spending is up though. Largely due to chelsea.

Does anyone remember when you could be just a football fan without having accountancy qualifications?
Not meaning to sound like I'm having a go but there's an odd obsession with attempting to sell someone who is consistent and reliably available in a position that we are heading in to a bit of a crisis with due to losing two first choice players for international duties...Many had him top of the sell list last summer as well, I do think it's a hangover of him being liked by managers that people didn't like, which isn't his fault.
I completely appreciate the idea that Pierre isn't the absolute archetype of the perfect player for Ange but the guy has been brilliant and well needed in many games, particularly when we've needed to shore things up. It's only a guess but I do imagine Ange would baulk at the idea of selling him, it's been a shift for PEH in terms of not being a starter but he's obviously just got on with it and is happy to play whatever part he's given. In the summer I do think long term we'll want a more fit for purpose upgrade (as well as PEH wanting a permanent move to somewhere like Atletico), even if there was an ideal player available (unlikely in January) we still need fit and ready bodies in there.
Should this thread be upstairs as it is about Spurs transfer dealings?
I know many will hate this suggestion but I wonder if there's a possibility of getting Phillips on loan from City, he needs football due to the Euros and did well in Bielsa's high octane style of play, it's not exactly the same as Angeball but it could work, he'll certainly have a point to prove..
You still can. Just watch the games. Don't worry about which players we sign, transfer fees or wages. Leave that up to the club.
