Tottenham vs Wycombe / Luton

Sure. But you're changing direction from the 'people are over reacting to a pre season game' comments. People were commenting on what they saw in the game from the players, the same as what they've seen with the same players many times before. The new owner thing is a different debate...

You're the one who said we need major investment. I was answering that.

Defence without attack will get you relegated. You need to attack to get 3 points. A solid defence without attack gets you at best 1 point.

Tell that to the "clean sheet" disciplines. It's a team game and we need to perform in all areas of the pitch, we'll achieve nothing if we concentrate on one area and set our ambitions not to lose.

You're cherry picking part of the post. You and others were originally going on about over reacting to pre season results when no one had complained about the results. The need for investment is a different debate altogether....

Frank was brought in to improve the players and how tge team plays. Maybe give him a bit of time to work.

It's a continuation from what many said last season, it's not some realisation from a couple of friendlies - I don't know why people have to make up their own narratives as if anyone is judging solely based on a friendly.

There are a good few players who aren't good enough and over rated on here, the argument that it was just Anges poor coaching is already/will be exposed to be nonsense. Yes of course the primary focus is fitness, but it's not as if Frank isn't asking them to play football and just telling them to run.

Had we played glorious football and scored a load of goals, people on here would not be going on about how it's just about fitness - they would be celebrating the football and what wonderful things Frank is doing.

We could have won the friendlies yesterday 5-0 and it wouldn't of changed anything - our midfield and attack is lacking big time if we want to compete, especially with CL football to contend with aswell. Let's hope there is plenty of movement soon.....
I actually don’t believe this. I think people would say it’s great that we played well but it’s meaningless as it’s preseason, let’s season how we get on with real games. I think this site is broadly mature and sensible, with a few outliers of course.

I agree this site is balanced and fine. But you can look at previous pre seasons threads and see plenty fawning over our football, no mention of 'it doesn't matter it's just about getting some exercise in.'

It works both ways, and everyone knows pre season is not to be taken too seriously, but it doesn't mean there aren't positives and negatives to be observed. People have mentioned how the likes of Kudus are looking good, there doesn't seem to be the same retaliation about how it's just pre season and not to take anything from it then....

Someone could accuse you of making up your own narrative regarding Frank considering he's been in the door 5 minutes.

A manager can have a great influence on a team, (hell, that's literally their remit) and by definition they are different to the last guy, so the outcomes are potentially different.

I'm not saying it potentially can't be the same BUT you are saying it will.

Not really, I haven't mentioned Frank. I believe he will develop our younger players well, but at the same time we have players who are past the potential stage and aren't good enough - Frank isn't going to improve everyone.

The fact that we have signed a player from West Ham, a team who are pretty low down in the pecking order and who isn't even their best attacker yet has come in and is clearly our most creative attacker says it all about the quality of our squad attacking wise. Our attack and midfield needs some quality added to it, regardless of how good Frank will be at improving certain players....

Remind me what team did we sign modric from?
Teams buy from smaller clubs. It's how it works. Palace bought wharton from blackburn. Liverpool bought salah from roma.
You ca't be arguing we only buy players from bigger clubs than us?

They were the standout player in those teams. Kudus was not, he would never of been sold to us if he was. Our attack is pretty average, we can all cling onto how Frank is going to convert them all into being amazing but let's be realistic. Our forwards in comparison to those we are hoping to compete with is not pretty reading....
