Because the fan base wants progressive passing football, its a bit counterintuitive to ask for that but then at the same time expect the players to then welly it out of the area when they do have the ball. Thats not how you build a passing team.

Just his style, choose the take on rather than the pass - frustrating when it doesn't come off and when it does the pass would have worked just as well anyway

Don’t think he can play an early pass. He often turns down the chance to play someone on and just assumed it’s because he can’t. Maybe too focussed on dribbling to have the vision at the same time

Specifically for this game the alternative is boot it long up to Richi who is up against Murillo and it's just constantly coming back at you....

I think the real answer is you play the smart pass, it wasn't the smartest pass in the first place but Gray was too casual considering the situation. Boot it up to Richy and like you said we know Murillo is going to win the ball in that situation and if you do that enough you will just get the ball coming back at you constantly and without the build up play to combat it. Its one of those things, we can't ask for the passing football but then complain when that same passing football has frailties.
