Defo an achievement. But to be fair, I'd say all those are at or just under our level - standouts there are Marseille, Sporting, Roma, Frankfurt and Villarreal, all of which are probably comparable to us in terms of stature relative to their leagues and Europe in general.
Don't think we've played a real giant at home since the Poch days. But, you can only beat what's in front of you, and we've done that with aplomb!
Also, think the list leaves out Milan - didn't we draw them at home?

On the whole, fairly easy, though I was impressed by how well Slavia used the ball when they had it. They seemed to always make the right pass and drove at us with real intent - they were let down by some poor finishing and weak shots at times.
On our end, thought we attacked with much more purpose today, though at the cost of looking a more shakier at the back. Think we still need to get the balance right, but it's progress in that direction.
Apart from Xavi having another good game, highlight for me was seeing Tel absolutely bust a lung haring up and down that flank of his for the last 30m. He is ridiculously fast when he gets into gear, and as others have remarked, he has a mean shot on him - just hope he gets more playing time to continue growing.

We'd only lost 1 home european game ever, up until a decade ago. Its always been a thing in european competitions - win at home, grab a draw away.

I though it was a fair performance, players seemed confident, perhaps over confident at times, I dislike seeing defenders trying back heel and 2 yard passes, at times we completely lost our shape. This should guarantee progression and a chance to rotate in upcoming fixtures and prioritise league games.
I know some will say finish high and get a better draw, I just feel we aren't yet good enough to go far in this competition.

Just home. Be daft to complain after a 3-0 win but the first half wasn't offensive enough for my liking. Maybe a better game to watch on TV? Still, Rome wasn't built in a day and even if the attacking isn't as fluid as I'd like, Frank clearly knows what he is doing. A decent performance at Forest at the weekend and things will be looking good.

I would be fascinated to hear a detailed breakdown from Frank on why now is the right time to use more of this positional fluidity. Last two games we’ve clearly attacked with a lot more variation than we had for any game previously.
I know he’s talked about adding layers. I would just love to know what exactly he was focused on first, and where he feels the team is now stronger to allow him to do more of this stuff.
DJed very inverted was super interesting. Gray just seems like such an obvious and welcome addition to the midfield. Players are actually getting around Xavi and offering him options. We are a little more open at the back playing like this but it’s a million miles better than what we showed against Wolves for example. Fascinated as to why we didn’t build to this earlier.

It's not. We need English teams to do well in Europe, at least in the early stages. Rack up the wins and get knocked out in the quarters and semis.

And Slavia could have easily had 2 or 3 themselves, if their finishing wasn't so meek. The penalties aside we created about as much as they did and it wasn't an extra 3 goals worth. The Brentford game was a good offensive performance with solidity at the back. This one was a few levels below on both ends. The scoreline flatters to deceive.

.....Yes, they missed a couple of good chances, but their keeper pulled off a number of great saves. Richy should've had a couple alone.
Was it a complete performance no, but as I said huge steps in the right direction compared to what we've seen previously. The movement and passing of the players has gone up several notches and from that the chances we are creating. We're not going to go from where we were a few games ago (and all of last season) to world beaters in the space of two games, but if we continue along the current path for this season I'll be happy. That's also with 3 young players starting and another 3 coming off the bench.
Frank deserves huge credit for the change in direction over the last few games, and that's from someone that has been really critical of him before that.
