***Tottenham Hotspur v Reading OMT***

I say that because this sort of ridiculous behaviour used to ‘the norm’ inside stadia but has thankfully been largely eradicated over the last 30 odd years. I’m not commenting about behaviour in society as a whole (where sadly I think you’re right): purely inside the grounds.

I suspect that the significant amount of drugs being shared around in the toilets at HT may have been a contributory factor.

A terrible look for football, a terrible look for THFC and a large disincentive to parents keen to encourage the next generation of Spurs fans to engage with the game and the club.

Going to a game in Italy was a pleasant surprise. You have the ‘ultras zone’ then the rest of the stadium is truly family friendly. More women and kids essentially, and whilst there is still some edge it felt far more family oriented. Nice to see how it can be and we should learn from how they approach things. We’re not a million miles away from that at new WHL. But it would be nice to increase the numbers of kids and families - as well as strengthen the togetherness and vocal support from the south stand. Maybe also create a more hardcore section next to the away fans too.

Agreed; drunk lads shouting abuse and throwing things at Reading fans was truly pathetic. If anyone here was doing that, please go flush your head down the toilet.
There was a large wedge of empty seats as well as the usual ‘column’ of empty seats but still fans went over there to act tough.
Those empty seats could have enabled another 400 fans to see the game but they have to be kept empty because of pri.cks like that.

Other observations from the game. Stadium seemed 10 to 15 percent empty which is odd as i thought it was a sellout.
Took an hour for the car park to empty out after the game. Utter gridlock. I hate that side of life.

I have a photo but cannot upload it here as file size is too large, can the forum software not resize it on the fly? It’s 2025 and is not obvious how to resize on iPhone so I gave up. Cba to upload to imgur.

Take a screenshot of the photo as a quick hack ☺️

Enjoyed the game yesterday between my first (Spurs) and second (Reading) teams. Dad is a Spurs fan and I was born and live in Reading. I was on the halfway line in the Reading section so had a good side on view.

Impressed with Vuskovic. Apart from the goal and assist, I noticed him being very vocal and leading the back line that included VdV and Davies. Unbelievably impressive as an 18 year old debutant and I really hope he can keep this up and show the same against better opposition. I’m sure he’ll still need time and patience but a good start. Kudus also good.

Was worried watching Son as I really love the guy. Fair enough if he’s lacking sharpness in the first pre season game, but he’s wearing the captains armband for the first time in front of the new manager. He just seemed to spend most of the match looking down at the the ground and not engaging that much with his teammates as I’d expect a captain to. I’m no body language expert but it didn’t look good from where I was sitting.

Thought Reading provided decent opposition too considering the gulf in class so a good outcome for all concerned..

Crowd issues were pathetic. I go to the odd Reading match and there is usually something like that kicking off towards the end so they definitely have a few idiots who never grew up. Sadly every club has them and I always look on with a mixture of sadness and entertainment - entertainment of the same kind you might get peering into an enclosure at a zoo. It was a just a minority of idiots on both sides in that corner as there were lots of spurs shirts around me and no problems at all. It was a friendly after all!

Apart from that ‘corner of hate’ it was all good yesterday. Lots of spurs shirts in the Reading end and families enjoying the game - as it should be for a preseason friendly.

I guess in a smaller stadium the d***k heads are easier to spot. Ideally you have an area for everyone right. It is nice to keep some (controlled) aggression and spice to football. As well as have families and more inclusive areas. Should be able to do both.

Indeed. Should also be noted that usually away fans only get half of the south stand so the divide is usually the full depth of that stand directly behind the goal. Yesterday it was a shorter run above the pitch access tunnel and below the scoreboard so perhaps the d**k heads were a bit more concentrated in that small area. I’m sure the club will block that off next time.

They should put all the dingdongheads in one section together, fenced in. It is the dingdonghead section, so they can all meet each other nice and close. Maybe put the dingdonghead section in the car park because they definitely weren’t watching the game.

They’re like those yapping dogs that yap and yap until you open the gate and then… nothing
