Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Telegraph running pretty much the same article now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...al-pitch-at-new-stadium-to-boost-NFL-bid.html

We're looking into a retractable artificial surface.

Also mentions the possibility of splitting the NFL games between Wembley and WHL as the FA are keen on making money, but might struggle to fit in eight games every season.

A Tottenham spokesman said: "The club has always seen the new stadium as being at the heart of the regeneration of the area and it is important, therefore, to look at how we future-proof the design, as well as increasing the functionality of the stadium, whilst being conscious of community uses. At this stage it is about looking at options but nothing more."

Taping room. Anachronistic term for a recording studio?

Hydro therapy room. Who really knows what goes on behind the scenes at a Lady Gaga concert? Maybe Levy's future plans for world domination include regularly irrigating his brain.

Yes, I did think about that type of taping room, but the full label includes physio and rehab. Even if twerking needed the latter, it wouldn't be in the taping room.

The hydrotherapy room might have relevance for rugby where as ice bath is used to help recover. A club rugby double header like they sometimes have at Wembley would need additional changing rooms, as would a Sevens tournament, but I'm not sure there is additional demand that Wembley and Twickenham wouldn't be favoured destinations.

An oddity is that this detail is included in the plans. If there were sensitive NFL negotiations it would be easy to disguise these rooms as something else and avoid the speculation. It's almost as if they have deliberately put in a teaser.

I'm probably being thick, but wouldn't you need 2 giant changing rooms for an NFL game?

In an ideal world yes, but as the article states the other team would use both the home and away football changing rooms, I'd imagine that they would split into Offence, Special teams players and Defence players.

The Standard article referenced the Taping Room and said it was an American/NFL term - strapping up the knees and backs of players before games (similar to what we saw Bale sporting at times)

'At Wembley, the NFL have to leave the lowest 5,000 seats empty, so that the view of spectators is not restricted by the number of bodies at the side of the pitch.' Maybe this is the biggest issue for Spurs. How would our close pitch-side stands work? Is this where a retractable pitch could work? Effectively lowering the pitch for NFL?

Please with the club statement: "The club has always seen the new stadium as being at the heart of the regeneration of the area and it is important, therefore, to look at how we future-proof the design, as well as increasing the functionality of the stadium, whilst being conscious of community uses. At this stage it is about looking at options but nothing more." It suggests we will see at the very least a refreshed design. Hopefully, the club will build an iconic stadium. One that sets us apart, helping to leapfrog arrse and outshine wham with a bespoke football mecca. Rather than a arrse like stadium that was initially proposed.

Yes, an article said the grass would be removed and the artificial pitch way down below it, to allow for big fat Americans to stand in the way of the action.

I think The Fazio had his back strapped on the weekend, could just see it poking out of his collar

Its not that kind of taping. Bale and Fazio both just have those kind of stickers that you put on the muscles. American Footballers using taping on their ankles etc and its way more like the kind of taping that boxers use on their fists. So imagine 50 odd players needing this level of taping in various locations. Its quite a job for the team staff.

I'd suggest that one of the benefits of the basement carpark would be to be able to transport the lower sections of the stands and store them in that basement thus creating space for the teams on the sidelines and height for the fans to look over those teams to see the action on the field.

Or simply this below which is fantastic really

Then all the seats flatten and then retract like below!

Would also be cool if we lowered the pitch and rolled out an artificial one on top. Kind of buggers up the car park though.
