Just to be a QC is impressive enough, I don't think there is necessarily a huge different between their skill levels once you reach that high.

Just to be a QC is impressive enough, I don't think there is necessarily a huge different between their skill levels once you reach that high.

No doubt they are all clever bastards! But some elite QCs earn 4 figures an hour. And presumably people pay them that for a reason. Junior QCs around £250 an hour - poor things.

I notice that Archway's solicitors, Paul Winter & Co, and their barrister, "CLM", acted on behalf of Islington Council in making the CPOs necessary for Arsenal's stadium and defending them against legal appeals. Rather ironic - but I guess it's a specialised area with only a small number of experts.

If that's the case then I am surprised that it got this far, expect the judge to kick the whole case out next chance he gets.
I suppose Archway loses and picks up the legal fees for both parties. Can we counter-sue them for damages from a delayed stadium build?

TH is not a part in this case. It's Archway vs Local Government/Secretary of State.
No, because they have a right to appeal and all they've done is exercise that right. They don't owe us a duty of care to prevent delay to our stadium in terms of the legal proceedings, being that the local government are effectively forcing them to sell their land and move.
If the appeal is seen to have no merit it will be dismissed and it is likely Archway will be asked to pick up the costs and that will be the end of the matter.
Those costs are likely to be fairly significant though I'd guess. I can't imagine you can even get two QCs in a room together for less than a few £K.

GHod I hope this ridiculous saga comes to an end soon. I feel certain that DL has loads to pass on regarding the stadium. But has had to leave it all in the dark until this case is at an end and their buildings are knocked down.
I assume the walkway to the station will go through a similar process as well. I know people have lived in those flats for a long time. But they really are a stain on the area. If I was offered a new flat to move to I would not think twice if i lived in those blocks.

Is this the last leg of everything. Or can they appeal again after this?
I'm sure i remember someone saying that the judge has to allow any further appeal after this stage. He can essentially give his judgement and block an appeal here. Wasn't it NWND who described the process?
