Tosin & Mudryk deals with Chelsea

Strange old summer really. I think you can feel genuinely excited about some of our signings and completely underwhelmed by others, with a hint of disappointment at some of the kids leaving us before really being tested in our shirt.

We still lack a true goal scorer. That was a major issue last season, remained one all summer, and is still one now, with 12 hours left before the window slams shut (copyright Jim White).

The lack of a recognised GS is a massive concern now it really is. I love Marmoush, wanted him for ages, but I don't think he is an out and out striker and you could see with his intelligent play dropping deep then the presence on the box is not there. I get that RDZ might like the false 9 etc, but I only think that takes you so far.

It's a valid complaint but we was never going to be able to overhaul everything in one summer, and quality no.9s are hard to come by.

I would like to think that with our improved attackers, plus RDZ system being embedded, and having Solanke and Richi be on the end of chances created we should get a decent amount of goals still. Yes they aren't the best strikers in the world, but in an attacking team with plenty of chances created I would expect them to score an appropriate amount to tie us over until next summer when our focus should be on a very good CF....

How many teams have a "recognised" goalscorer? Modern football has changed massively. City do, sure.

Arsenal? No
Man U? No
Villa? Not really, Watkins i guess.
Liverpool? No
Chelsea? Pedro yes.
Saudi Sportswashing Machine? No

It's not a requirement if your midfield and wingers provide the goals. Our issue has been the injuries and lack of options in both midfield and wingers.

Good point (although Liverpool have Isak) I’ve been thinking we surely have to sign a striker today, but you’re right that the PL is changing. However those teams have players with more goals in them than ours.

Just not sure Savio, Marmoush and Kudos have enough goals in them. Think we’ll still be playing Solanke or Richy (or Tel) as a 9.

(FWIW I’d be pleased if we get Mudryk, low risk gamble and he can def score if he regains his form/fitness)

What do you mean by recognised? A player that plays the CF role?
Arsenal have Gyokeres
Villa have Jackson
Liverpool have Isak and Ekitike
Man Utd have Sesko

I think a few of them absolutely do. Liverpool have 2 TBF

Thats fair but also when you look at our wingers I can't say they are out and out prolific goal scorers.

I probably subscribe to the idea Solanke plays with Marmoush who plays in a hybrid 10 role and supports him in attack. A 3 of Savio, Marmoush & Kudus is not going to be enough goals

OK. And? My point is this is a low-risk potentially high-reward move. He might be brick. He might be great.
Tbh I didn't explain myself properly. What I wanted to say is Twl isn't good enough to require backup, he needs to be the backup himself or ideally the 3rd guy that gets the odd few minutes here or there. Mudyrk I don't believe is a backup to him.

At worst they are viewed on the same level as although they don't have the same faults they both require a significant degree of development before either can consistently offer a positive contribution.

So I'm not anti bringing Mudyrk in, hes quite a drop from Ndiaye to be fair but hey we couldn't get that deal over the line I guess and he's an extra body as an option.
