Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Why would we go for it second half when we are 2-0 up against ten men and we have a bucket load of injuries? It absolutely made sense to play within unless necessary and conserve energy. Nothing to see here....
Definitely agree with conserving energy being important in this game. It's also just the "standard" strategy regardless of that under Frank.

I do also think a good way of conserving energy at 2-0 up against a team with 10 men would have been to keep the ball. Pass it around, make them run, perhaps even get a third and kill the game.

What we did is certainly fine in that specific game, no real concern to be had on that in isolation. But that game is also one in a larger pattern.

In the larger pattern as you put it, we have coughed up chances and looked like we would concede. For this game we were always in control, they barely had any chances and even whilst clearly holding back we still manufactured some decent opportunities.

There was nothing to really compalin about for this game considering our squad limitations, except the fact we've picked up another injury..,,

For Steff

He has. And Frank has got Tel playing the best football he’s played for us. Some credit to Frank there. Tel was lost last season.

I think people are just asking for fans like you to make some allowance for missing so many attacking players. Maybe can give Frank a bit of slack with this in mind.

Yes. Most still back and celebrate the second string attackers. Especially as they develop. Odobert, Tel, Bergvall, most appreciated their developing skills as well as appreciating they are not polished. When you allow for these younger players - that they aren’t the finished article - then it should give some patience. We might not have enough wins on the board but we are watching some talented young players come on leaps and bounds and settle. None looked out of place on the CL last night.

Remember the support Levy had? What about the protests for change? Everyone should just get behind the entire club, not just the manager. Or everyone is entitled to their view, doesn't mean they don't support the club.

Really depends how you want to live your life. With positivity or fuked off with everything.

It's the most childish thing I read that if you don't back the manager you aren't supporting the club. What a load of tosh.

You wrote it lol 😂

I was talking about how things like placebos affect people. It’s a known thing right. Can you imagine coming to work and a quarter of the ‘fans’ hating on you? Would that help or hinder your performance?

Lol. There isn’t any point discussing because you’re not able to give credit where it’s due. Frank made some big calls and we won. But you’ll try to twist it to find your prejudice. Wallow in it if that is your thing. Who am I to give you clarity. You seem content in this space so nothing to be done here.

Can you imagine? After all the investment in wanting him gone 😂

But the absolute garbage we have been subjected to from a minority of ‘supporters’ this season is unacceptable.

Fixed it for you. You are welcome 😊

This is quite funny... Tel has been backed? 527 minutes this season in PL and he hasn't been injured. Tel is only playing due to lack of options. But yes you saw that Tel was getting loads of game time this season. Compare that to Muani who has had nearly double that and been absolute rubbish .

How can you ask for time and support for TF, and then claim people saying our attack is rubbish to emphasise the players missing us ok? Support all the players then. They are the ones carrying out the managers instructions.

TF didn't play those youngsters yesterday through choice. They didn't all of a sudden become good enough overnight. TF has to play them because he had no other options. That's not managing, that's working with what's left. We lucked out because they just happen to be the players that bring more zip to the team instead of constant back passing. Since you like going and quoting my messages for others, go look at what I wrote when the line ups came out.... I bet you won't.

You have this mentality of you have to support the manager, I support the club. The manager should feel privileged to manage this club. I have been a massive supporter of our squad because I believe they are better than what TF allows them to show - that does not mean I think every player should be picked , some have been poor, but our squad is way better than sitting bottom half of the table. Again, you will find plenty of those posts too. Easy for you to find, just look at my profile and recent posts.

We all know he's going to bring Paulinha back in for Gray/Bergvall on Saturday, they'll put 3 past us, and we'll have a caretaker for Frankfurt

I think Palinha can do a job if he can release the ball quicker to the attacking players. Sometimes you have to back the player to do something with the ball. Sending it back to the defenders doesn't really help.

However, be has to be the CDM and not be part of a defensive double pivot. Gray could easily be an almost deep lying playmaker type role, which hopefully frees up wingers and Xavi to be moving forwards

I always want Spurs to win, and have nothing against Frank personally.

My perspective is he's already shown he isn't the guy for us, if he turns it around and we win 5 out of next 8 games, get in CL top 8 and get back up the PL table, I'll eat humble pie all day, I don't see it, but happy to be wrong.

My concern is we all already know the inevitable and postponing it gains the club nothing.

This, taken outside the context of his normal approach, you could see the logic, for me

For two reasons, one the pressure he is under, the lack of fan backing, opportunity to really make it a statement win, second, we were playing against 10 men, I would have preferred to see us go for that third goal for 10-15 minutes of 2nd half, and if we didn't get it, fine, settle in, slow down game but keep the ball (we didn't)

Personally I think it’s mad to criticize Frank for sitting back more on a 2-0 lead in the CL. I also think that the sit back and counter approach doesn’t mean we couldn’t have got the third or were necessarily less likely to. Again, players need to execute and make the right decision rather than falling over the ball when there’s oceans of space in front of them. Sit back and control and then hit long, that is definitely less likely to get a goal. Sit back and counter though I think is a reasonable strategy.

What I would also say though is that I don’t think Frank’s decision to do that on Tuesday would have been any different if we had more players fit. So as much as I don’t criticise him for it, I also don’t offer him sympathy or some mitigation for it. This is who he is. I think it’s who he will be with us, and I understand why people want to criticise this on the basis that it is who he is because it isn’t to their taste. But it worked, and he finally got some breaks that he hadn’t been getting.

Personally I can get on board with any system as long as it gets results, provides enough excitement for the fans, and is stimulating enough for the players that they actually want to play in it.
