Thomas Frank - Head Coach

I haven't seen anyone shouting for him to be sacked. There's nothing wrong with questioning the quality of the football being played and if he is getting the best out of the players. Would you be happy with watching the style of football on show so far long term?
Well the answer to that is no but none of us know that will happen. I would rather wait and see before getting the all uptight and upset so early in his reign.

What has surprised me is that for all the talk from the summer of Frank being adaptable, setting up his his teams in different formations dependant upon the opponent, there is no sign he’s willing to do that currently.

I’m in no way wanting him out, I think he’s a good manager but with this being a step up in scale from Brentford there are different expectations. He’s going to have to show some more attacking intent starting this week

I think we have seen that in many games, people might not like the style but I have seen at least 4 different systems and set ups from PSG to Burnley to Monaco to last night

Other than Vic and the defence.... who in our current fit set of players would be a regular in any of the teams that finished top 5 last year? Paulinha? Maybe Kudus? So are you really surprised with performances such as yesterday's???

Our team - especially midfield and attack - is simply not good enough due to abysmal recruitment over the years. The fact that Frank has us in the top third of the table is already a major achievement.

Spot on. Said something along these lines in match thread.
Injury’s not helped this matter either.

Not getting many goals out of the utter dross we have for attacking options.

Some are young , but Richy , Solanke , Johnson are not great.

Tel and Odebert are young and may come good but not seen much to suggest that yet.

Our midfield options are not great in terms of passing ability either.

Going to take a few windows and a lot of money to address that.

Frank needs to get this mob performing beyond the some it’s parts in a big way to finish top 4-6.

I disagree. The only bit of that which rings true IMO, is that it is a major achievement based on how he currently has us playing. Because it is an unsustainable position isn't it? We can complain about Solanke, but he has had a CF throughout Solanke's time out. He has had (until Gray was injured) and three midfielders capable of progressing play through the middle by carrying the ball (Bergvall, Sarr, Gray). In Xavi, he has a very creative option he simply isn't getting the most out of. He is choosing this way of playing. I've consistently said the real proof will be when we get Deki back (Madders is too far away) and we see how he chooses to start playing then.

It's way too early to judge anything.
I'm disappointed that he hasn't been as flexible as we hoped, but maybe he is trying to instil a solid fallback position before he moves to the more varied and complex tactical adjustments for specific games.
With games coming thick and fast combined with our injury situation there can't be much training time.

If I were a betting person it'd be worth a punt (n.b. that is NOT a statement of how I would feel about such a thing)...
The club have an out in a way - it was Levy's appointment and we didnt agree etc etc

They will try and make a statement to show intent and win the fans over - my guess is Kane/Mopo attempts

All a giant guess of course!

Everyone agrees we need some better players especially attacking areas. That doesn't excuse the turgid football that's been played for a few weeks. We are putting out literally eleven internationals on the pitch, you can't tell me we can't expect them to do the basics with the football like pass and move or even just pass the ball forward. It's a poor excuse to say we need better players for the football to be better.

My hope is that the Chelsea game was rock bottom. We have a nice game in the Champions League that we should be able to (without taking Copenhagen for granted) play some football and get some confidence back and from there use that as a base for the Man U game and off we go....

This is all leading to Mopo coming back after the world cup isnt it.....
Nah, I think not.
Frank has only managed 10 league games, he obviously needs more time.
By the way, we have 17 points and have scored 14 goals.
In comparison, with Poch after his first 10 league games we had amassed just 14 points and scored just 11 goals.
But we all know people have short memories.

Spurs have played just FOUR through balls this season, the fewest in the Premier League (and just one at home).

By contrast:

Arsenal 38
Emirates Marketing Project 31
Man Utd 31
Liverpool 30
Aston Villa 28
C Palace 27

The league average is 18.5

Do you have that for last season? Would be interested to see where Brentford were.

Just saw something on Reddit saying that we have played 4 through balls this season, and one at home. That can’t be right?

Supposedly league average is 18, with top teams doing 30+.

I’m begging it to be the case that I’ve fallen for some really subtle satire.
