Thomas Frank - Head Coach

You wouldn't give up the Europa win, because playing expansive football was more important? We got that done with some of the worst football I've seen a Spurs side play. Backs to the wall stuff. But we won. Ironic it was under the one-system-manager. It has been a year full of irony. Yet we're still Europa League Champions. We're rebuilding and we have a decent coach who given time will come good.

Our conversation started where you said you didn't like our style of play, and I asked you to outline what style of play you didn't like or maybe wanted.

We've done it to death mate.

winning games is what buys managers time, so they can then polish and refine. So I'd simple settle for us winning a few games first and foremost. It helps players with confidence, fans with belief, takes away pressure from staff etc. It is all about winning games, football always has been, despite protestations.

I agree that winning is the end game.

Totally agree. Frank is building without much foundation. Just a backline really. Midifeld and attack are at sea. He's lost all the senior attacking players from last season, and has to bed in new players whilst developing the identity and side. Maybe some managers can press buttons and instill more belief in players quicker than Frank - get them playing with confidence - but the biggest confidence builder is winning.

Again, we've discussed this before but I am not sure how you get to 'he's lost all his senior attacking players from last season'? Are you specifically referring to Deki and Son? No arguments with their losses being significant, however he was fortunate to have the chance to address them in the summer. I assume he was happy to get Kudus and Xavi? I sympathize with him re: Solanke albeit we pulled a sort-of rabbit in getting Muani. But Muani is not the same CF. So yes, he is having to deal with that. Luckily Richarlison is scoring.

It has been an aweful year. 4 wins at home in 1 year is a shocker. Probably one of the worst on record for Spurs. That started pre-Frank, but I think he will come good, if the fans show patience. Which of course we know will never happen!

Let's hope he does. ALL Spurs supporters want that surely?!

Beggers can't be choosers. We just need to get some wins on the board. Then we can get back to being football snobs :)

:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:...but I'm getting too old NOT to be a footballing snob LOL!!!! Reminds me, I must be careful not to start uttering 'it weren't like that in my day' about absobloodylutely everything hahahaha!

And they wouldnt have started picking up without that quality attacking/creative talent on the pitch. I am pretty certain if we had Maddison, Kulu and Solanke fit for majority of our games this season we'd be 5-10 points better off, i.e. we'd be right up there.
I can’t agree
Simply put even with the players we have had available we haven’t shown any attacking intent. So not sure how we would be using those players
I prefer to judge on what we have seen and it’s fudging awful
I urge more fans to look at a neutrals view. There are plenty of pods out there and their talk about is so accurate

???
Not sure I follow? I said that I was happy to ride the weirdness of last season, especially given that we ended up winning a trophy via adapting (and yes, it was stodgy stuff). My hope was that perhaps we'd find some modifications in certain game situations going forward, yet retain the philosophy the players appeared to enjoy?

I’m scared that Frank can’t get a tune from the 4 new player he has brought in so what will he do with the next batch

I mean he e didn’t buy kids or novices and it’s fair to assume all were brought or loaned with Frank’s blessing

But maybe they are just really really bad

What's that brilliant phrase Noel once threw at Liam? He's a bloke trying to eat soup with a fork??? There's some of that in how we're using a couple of those players...

I'm not here to defend Frank and the football - its been woeful and i don't think he is getting a tune out of many. Saying that i really can't have it that you don't put players of the quality of Kulu, Maddison and Solanke in that team and get at least 5 more points (Probably more). They'd make the attacking intent just by being on the pitch and have the confidence and experience to make the play regardless of what the coach is doing. I mean even Udogie playing more games would have improved things as we are so lopsided in terms of width when Spence plays there.

It’s speculative though
We may have had them fit and won every game
We may have had them fit and lost Romero and VDV again
Who knows
What we do know is the players who have started 5 games or more in the league have all been experienced players and all international footballers apart from gray and Bergvall. It’s not a bunch of kids or novices.
Frank now has 3 games where he has to show something, some intent and a plan
Getting up the league whilst the gap isn’t huge is still possible
But it’s down to how we are being set up to play, how motivated the team are, and how it’s all executed

Maybe
sometimes have to sack the drummer because he may have sounded good when you played in small venues but he can’t keel up when your in the big venues

I love the way posters try to pretend there is a seperation. As though watching the team only win 4 games in a year could be enjoyable if only they'd play with style.
Well one thing I do know for certain is that losing games with these brick, negative, cowardly, passionless performances that we’ve seen this season at home is awful.
