The *WHEN* we go down thread

When clubs are relegated the normal thing is to sell assets , who can we sell to bring money in and reduce the wage bill without going into the transfer market ?

Vicario already linked with a return to Italy , Kinsky looks OK for the Championship with Austin as back up.

Romero & VDV to sell, we already have Danso/Radu and Takai , Vuskovic, Phillips could come in with Vuskovic as first choice starter.

Sell Simons who is reputedly on high wages with Moore as replacement
In midfield would like to keep Bentancur & Maddison for their experience.

Up front we could sell Richy or Solanke and bring in Lankshear .

Others out on loan are Devine, Donley, Scarlett , Veliz, Yang and Solomon .
Solomon is absolutely Championship proven with Leeds (10 goals, 12 assists) in 39 league appearances

Full backs are a position where we don't have any obvious cover if Porro and Spence want out apart from Souza.

Good option if possible, we do need those three , I'm sure Vuskovic would be happy to stay in Hamburg for another season, Gray and Bergvall maybe a loan somewhere like Spain to one of the top three clubs to continue their development.

If there was one player I hope we manage to do that deal with its Simons for me. I think he's going to be a star, would love us to loan him to a PL team for a year for some more experience in this league then come back to us if promoted and be an absolute baller.

I reckon we will manage to keep Gray, Bergvall and Vuskovic for a year in the Championship, I think would be too much to ask from Simons unfortunately....

I would love to see Simmons stay with us if we went down [ i get your reasoning about loaning him out] but he would be a star for us next season.

I get the sentiment but probably wouldn’t get much game time at one of the good clubs and wouldn’t get much out of being loaned to a Coventry. Maybe a Bournemouth.

Better option for me, stay with us and tear it up.

Of course it would be the better option for us, I'm not convinced he will want to play in the Championship but who knows.

He doesn't have to be loaned to one of the big clubs, just a team that play defent football and utilise him correctly and can get another seasons experience of the pace and physicality of the league. A Brentford for example would be great, but would love to see him stay for sure....

He’s struggling to cope with the physicality of the premiership… he would get destroyed in the championship… if he came out of it on the other end however he would be an animal.

You may be right about him struggling, but as you say if he comes out stronger it will only help us in the long run.

As someone who regularly watches Championship football, it's now a bit of a tired cliche regarding the physical nature of the league.

Of course you need to be physically up to it, but no more so than the Premier League and the teams at the top echelon of the league tend to be footballing sides. It's not a league full of brutes anymore....

Yep. All the teams that win the league now typically do so playing attacking possesion football.

Solomon has a mandatory purchase at Fionertina if they stay up for £7M.

I’d bring back Kyle Walker for a season and sell Porro.
 
This talk of loaning out our young stars is madness to me.
We keep them here, we play them as much as is realistically possible, they learn to win, they build a strong connection with the club and we make them ours for life.
It won't work with them all, but if we can do it with 75% of them from gray, Bergvall, Simmons, tel, Odobert, Sarr, Kinsky, vuskovic then we have the nucleus of a very good team.
