The Stats Thread

After the way Spurs beat Southampton 4-1 after trailing 0-1 : Spurs have now come from behind to win 79 PL games - only Man Utd (80) have won more in this manner. Revival.

Also, Spurs have lost more matches (56) from a winning position than any other side in Premier League history.

So, we only play well when we get desperate and get complacent when we are winning !

We're on a roll! Not just winning, but winning well, scoring plenty and conceding few.

Last six in PL:

P6 - W5 D0 L1 - F18 A4 - GD +14 ... Pts 15

4-1 vs Watford (a)
4-1 vs Southampton (a)
2-1 vs Burnley (h)
3-0 vs Hull City (h)
0-1 vs United (a)
5-0 vs Swansea (h)

Just the one blip against United since the Chelsea game.

We play Chelsea, City and Liverpool in our next six games. Good to get them out of the way before the Europa starts up.

So, Kane hit the posts 6 times this season. Wonder if that means he was plain unlucky or should have been more clinical in front of goal. Also, not sure if the chance he had against Leicester when his shot was deflected on to the post by the goalie is included as a hit on the post or a save by the goalie.

I never understand why people make a thing about the number of times a player or a team hits the post or crossbar. It cannot be counted as a shot on target so what is the big deal? Maybe it is a sign that you need more practice in front of goal

If only Kane's free kick had crept under the crossbar, would've surely got him under the 100 minute mark!

Hopefully Giroud doesn't score a 10th PL goal this weekend, as he's currently at 88 minutes per goal o_O

Spurs have +42 goal difference. If Manchester United hadn't conceded any goals this season, they would still only have a one goal edge.

We haven't finished a season with a GD in excess of +40 since 1963  (albeit they had the goal average system back then).

Typically the team with the best goal difference wins the title...

2016: Tottenham +34 (third)
2015: Emirates Marketing Project +45 (second)
2014: Emirates Marketing Project +65 (first)
2013: ManU +43 (first)
2012: Emirates Marketing Project +64 (first)
2011: ManU +41 (first)
2010: Chavski +71 (first)
2009: Liverpool +50 (third)
2008: ManU +58 (first)
2007: ManU +56 (first)
2006: Chavski +50 (first)
2005: Chavski +57 (first)
2004: ARSEnal +47 (first)
2003: ARSEnal +43 (second)
2002: ARSEnal +43 (first)
2001: ManU +48 (first)
2000: ManU +52 (first)
1999: ManU +43 (first)
1998: ManU +47 (second)
1997: Saudi Sportswashing Machine +33 (second)

Spurs could become the first top flight club to have the best goal difference on consecutive seasons without picking up the title

Not only the best goal difference, but the best defensive record as well. Since the start of the Prem, the only other side to have failed to win the league while claiming both was Man U in 1998, when they finished a point behind the Arse.

Still Ѕpursy after all these years :)
