Dempsey set for Premier League return as Fulham, Spurs and West Ham consider loan swoop

Clint Dempsey could return to the Premier League as early as January – despite quitting Tottenham for America in the summer.
The former Fulham and Spurs midfielder left White Hart Lane after just one season and returned to MLS to play for Seattle Sounders.
But there is a clause in the USA international’s contract that allows him to go out on loan during the close season.

Tottenham are understood to have first option on taking the midfielder on loan – but are unlikely to take up the option due to having plenty of numbers in his position.
Fulham -who appointed Rene Meulensteen as head coach on Wednesday – could be interested in re-signing Dempsey as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.
West Ham are another club who could be interested in a short-term deal for Dempsey.
Seattle Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer said: 'Clint's contract allows him to go on loan for the off-season.

'All parties are working on a deal and we won't be surprised if it happens.'
Dempsey could go on loan from January 1 when the transfer window opens and stay until the MLS season re-starts at the beginning of March.
There is a history of MLS players going on loan to Premier League clubs, Thierry Henry returned to Arsenal from New York Red Bulls in 2012 while LA Galaxy forward Landon Donavan had two loan spells at Everton in 2010 and 2012.
His team-mate Robbie Keane returned to England to play for Aston Villa in 2012 while David Beckham was often linked with a return to England but spent time on loan in Italy at AC Milan in 2009 and 2010.

Thank christ for that. We're paper thin on attacking midfielders-come-forwards....
