The race for 86 points

Welcome mate, always good to see fair-minded football supporters on the forum...as someone who greatly respected SAF (not necessarily universal here I must be honest, but I always did and always admired him greatly) your comparison is particularly interesting. I feel exactly the same, but again, to hear it from someone who lived it is really interesting. I genuinely hope that your club finds success beyond Mourinho one day sooner than later, as I personally believe he is beneath Utd and is incredibly lucky to have the job. Anyway, again welcome, and as I said, we always welcome fair, open-minded supporters from other clubs on here. Best, Steff

Cheers Steff, never sure whether you're welcome on other boards :)

It can be hard to assess your own team sometimes, as you're too close to it, but a blind man can see that there's something special being built at WHL. If you don't win it this year I would have you as big favourites for next, unless the new ground gets in the way.

Thanks for the kind words and welcome, I'm also not convinced that Mourinho is right for us long term, but at least he's not Moyes. We've seen enough success to last a lifetime tbh, would just like to be entertained and today was more like the old Utd.

Anyway, if Chelsea can lose to a team with Fellaini anchoring the midfield, and without creating a single chance, they can definitely drop points elsewhere. You have a real chance here.

For me, you took great advantage of no Alonso, really allowed you to force onto Hazard and Kante to stop them doing anything as they had no width (I actually though Fellani did well but I get your point). I watch United with intrigue right now. Mourinho has never been one to trust youth as he only wants his legacy to exist (usually a couple of seasons). I would be scared if he passed on Ibra in the summer and went with the Rashfords and Lingers whilst finding room for Fosu-Mensah, etc. Poch has been building our project for some time now, and I think what excites us the most is that we do have many young players coming through and forming a core.

Let's hope it's this year :)

Yep, Alonso is very underrated for them, but I genuinely felt that we wanted it more today. Which is ridiculous given what was at stake for both teams. Fellaini was indeed excellent, but that is pretty much the first time this season, as he's not a footballer. Chelsea were just petulant, they can't handle it when they're not allowed to play, and the blueprint is there to stop them.
I agree about Ibra, he's been great in some respects, but he slows everything down. That's why we have so many draws at OT, whereas your boys go for the throat from the KO with fast one touch football, and you blow teams away. If you can keep that team together, you're going to have some fun in the next few years :)

Anyway, goodnight, and good luck!

A personal take on our position...

My sister lives in northern Scotland and I haven't been up there since 2003.. I have seen her a few times since then when she came down when, sadly, our parents were ill and then their subsequent funerals.

Four weeks ago I gave her some dates for me to go up there and we agreed on the weekend of Sunday 21 may.. The last day of the season and it wasn't an issue before the palace game..

Now, if we have a chance of winning the title on that day I want to be with my son and not stuck in a remote Scottish village with no sky and where nobody gives a toss anyway.

My problem is how would i tell her? She will cop the hump big time.. Spurs never make life easy
What's wrong with being struck down by a bug so virulent it completely knocks you out rendering you unable to travel that w/end? You cannot stop vomiting and in between you are too zonked even to answer your phone. It's a 24-hour bug but by the time you are fit to travel again it's already too late.

Simple.

What's your preferred top 4?

I hope Poch keeps the pressure off us, and on them. "chelsea are expected to win...etc" Their budget etc. Just say anything to stop our players feeling the heat and keep them fighting as outsiders rather than entitled. As Raneri did last season for Leicester.

Spurs, chelsea, city, united. How good would it be to see pool in 5th and the scum 6th!
Kidology was Clough's most effective tactic the year his Forest side came from nowhere to win the League. During the run-in he banged on and on about his team having no chance because they were not good enough and just did not belong in that exalted company.

Prior to each game he would praise the opposition to the heavens saying what magnificent players they had and how his team stood no chance.

It worked a treat, the crafty bugger.

Can somebody clever do one of those pictures of Spurs / Cheatski with comparison stats, so it can become viral and be spread across the land forthwith?

Something like
Cost of first team £100m vs £300m
Annual wage bill £100m vs £250m
Points this year X vs Y
Points in the last month W vs Z
Net transfer spend this millennium A vs B
Wages spent this millennium C vs D
Etc

You wanted it about 100% more than they did and they simply bottled it

Rashford was outstanding (and I'm one who think he has been over hyped)

You look so much better without Zlatan it's surreal

And your resilient commenst about hazard are something I've said for some time.... their actually such a defensive side that if you stop him they have no back up plan which was clear as anything yeste day and when we beat em

Just looked at the gossip on the bbc sport app..

There is a picture of Cahill on the back page of a newspaper... It is like 'the scream' and he looks full of fear... Let's hope the manager and the rest of the team feel the same way..

Come on you beautiful Spurs...

Watched that dross Sunday supplement. Why don't journos ever use their brains?

They were a shambles, instead of complimenting spurs and Poch on our success they kept harping on about us being a selling club and that Poch keeps angling for a move.

Selling club or just doing what is best for the club when a player becomes poison? All players that have left spurs have been sold on a massive premium. Recently we have stood up and refused to sell to direct rivals.

Poch looking to leave? He could have gone already if he wanted to and there is nothing that has come out from his mouth or spurs that suggests that he unsettled or unhappy. If anything he just keeps talking about doing a fergie and building something amazing with us.

It's on their website now

You lot saying that they had the easier run in were right. That May 8th game looks like a gimme
