*** The Official 'How do you stop Emirates Marketing Project?!?!' OMT ***

Capoue is a **** passer, Bentaleb is a better passer. The onus was on passing. I guarantee that if Sandro was fit, he would have been playing, hell even Paulinho would have been playing.

Today our passing was poor, the players should be held accountable just as much as the Manager/Coach.

Didnt we have a defensive midfielder at the Etihad? what happened there. It is not as simple as saying 'lets put a DM on' because the issues are still inherently present.

Emirates Marketing Project were far too ruthless at the Etihad compared to today. I think a DM would have helped us, even if we still might not have won. You have to be able to shield the defence and get the ball from the opposition before passing comes into. Not that passing isn't important of course, but it's like we are starting to talk like Arsenal of a few years ago: "we don't need a tackler/DM, pah...we need more neat little passers.."
I know how we talked about them when the did that...

I think the guys on the Spanish river i was floating on were remarking upon Hodgson's presence at the game tonight and the lack of English players he had to watch lol

Not even a w*nk could make me feel better tonight. Just need to be spanked by Arsenal at home and Liverpool and Chelsea away to complete our misery. Oh and a third defeat to west ham.

And we'll still probably finish a point outside the CL places LOL.

This game ey. Why do we do it to ourselves

Shouldn't you watch the game before you start commenting on where we went wrong and what the team selection should have been?

Er..I listened mostly on Radio (on and off)...what have I said that is wrong? Was our defence not exposed constantly before the last 10 mins of the first half, as the Radio commentary indicated??

Milo, GD and Notmegov: Cheers!

At the risk of making this the circlejerk Notmegov apparently craves (;)) it's always a pleasure to have the chance to share Spurs-feeling with you and everyone here. I'm a tad drunk (or a dad trunk), but onwards and upwards together!

One setback will always be just one setback...

Ade's probably unfortunately blocked the linos view of Zabaleta. It's a shame. We were thoroughly beaten. I just didn't want to get spanked. I really didn't.

I guess it's just like that joker Afan who used to post match ratings after listening to the radio commentary! It's impossible.

I've watched football on tv and listened to the same radio commentary once or twice and the two just don't marry. Don't get me wrong, city were great tonight but we were still in the game at half time.

How can you make a judgement based on radio commentary? How often do you think that commentators get a game 100% right? I am not saying it is without value, I quite like listening to sport on the radio but I do not think that you can analyse a game or talk about where our team selection went wrong based solely on second hand opinions.

Ok then, so in hindsight, would having a DM in Capoue start next to Bentaleb/Dembele have helped us tonight? Or not?

I really thought we could change it up until the penalty, sending off and 2-0. We finished the first half and started the second really strong.

We were second best though, against the best team in the league - a team that will go up against Barca and feel that they can make it a close game. No shame in that. This was not the game where it was all decided, it's the next one...

Onwards and upwards, a lot of average-ish performances at best today. But it's not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward... On Saturday we will have our chance to keep moving forward...

Well said sir :)

Thought we weren't that bad, took the game to them between 1-0 and 2-0. If the linesman had done the job that he is paid to do (the one that he pays tax on with the FA, not the off-the-books one with the City sheiks) then I think there was a real chance we could have taken something from the game. They were rattled by us being up at them, picking up bookings all over the place, and themselves could have slipped up on a double yellow and gone down to ten. Not saying we would have won or even drawn but we were definitely in the contest. As it was, Scott Ledger decided to be a ****. And why the hell wasn't Les Ferdinand up in his face on the final whistle?

That said, City were a class above us today and regardless of Ledger they still could well have hammered us. To be honest though that side of it matters less to me right now. Our goal difference is shot and irretrievable so a loss is a loss. Some of our players disappeared at times but actually most of them did play well for sections of the game. They'll probably get low ratings because a defeat is just unacceptable round these parts but against a difficult opposition they worked hard for the 90. Think Sherwood should be reported to the NSPCC for putting Naughton up against Navas though.

Sounded like decent enough support on the TV, didn't hear any booing at the whistle which was good. But every one of those fans who left early are a disgrace. What's telling is that with 5 minutes left the far left block of the lower West Stand was still fairly full, while there were massive blue sections elsewhere. Guess which part of the lower West Stand doesn't have season ticket holders?

ironically i'd say you get a better idea from listening to the radio commentators (that cnut alan green excluded) than you do the tv ones, nothing compared to what you see with your own eyes though

If you watched tonight, do you think that starting a specialist DM alongside Bentaleb/Dembele would have made a difference for us tonight, in hindsight?

We could have spent that on just 2 or 3 players instead, but we'd be ****ed if one or more got injured or didn't work out. Unlike Chelsea and City we can't just go out and buy more. We've invested in potential and it could take a while before that is fully realised.

i.m sorry i wrote that..we dont have 6 flops..but we have been a bit hasty with the money from Bales signing...

I think that we still would have lost. We might have got some more tackles in but we would have probably given the ball away even more. You pays your money and you takes your choices.

Stick your stick your optimism mate mate ;)

If this was real life I would suggest a group hug of Diego, seeing as that's kind hard with all this internetty-thingy perhaps just the thought of being closely surrounded by hairy, post match sweaty, beer smelling, unshaven, scruffy men will make you feel better...

Why do you think we would have given the ball away more? We sound like Arsenal fans a few years ago when they tried to say Wenger was right not to replace Viera/Edu/Gilberto...

We were never going to walk away with an easy win, yet many acting on here like we were. We needed the rub of the green to get anything from this game. And two decisions might have gone in our favour on another night. We grew into the match after a disappointing start. The players adjusting to a new formation. Last game Lennon and Chadli were the only players with question marks over them, this game Lennon and Sigi.

It is astounding how the silver lining for some 'fans' on here is that Sherwood is undermined. I liked the way Sherwood didn't blame the ref. You make your own luck, you certainly have to when playing such a quality team with officials that make questionable key calls. We might have got a draw had we had the decisions fall in our favour.

Yeah funny how the people who were sketpical of AVB were "overreacting" after getting spanked by West Ham, then getting pumped again by Emirates Marketing Project, then AGAIN by Liverpool but one shocking result and the knives are out.
