*** The official 2025/26 Premier League thread ***

Obviously Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike are quality, but their attack was already really good. Would have been wiser to invest a big chunk of that money on a couple of top class CBs.....
Buying quality doesn’t always work
As you say
The right fit at the right time is key
Still think Arsenal not buying the right striker may cost them
Couldn’t believe he didn’t score against the worst team in the league

In complete opposite to the press and fan (of all clubs) narrative… Pool fudged up a bit this summer didn’t they.. Losing TAA, Diaz, Nunez and Jota (RIP). Too many changes at one time and you’ll never convince me that was good business to sell Diaz, madness!

Salah carried them at times last season, he was unplayable but you can’t expect that form to continue particularly at his age and there were signs from Feb onwards his form was dipping.

They’ll get better as the season goes on but right now they’ve probably got about 10 more points than they’ve deserved, luckily for them. Just hope they’re not too far off the Goons by the time they click. Or that Pep wakes that City side up, because this is the only season I’ve actually been concerned that the Goons might do it, as much to do with the lack of competition from other clubs as them themselves.

Nunez needed upgrading. Jota was clearly rotten luck and tragic. Like you I would have Diaz, he’s scored 5 in 6 for Bayern I believe. As others have said, they needed strengthening in their defence. Konate has been awful this season, I don’t know why Real would go for him rather than Saliba, or even Gabriel who I don’t rate that highly and he’s a thug, but he’s better than Konate.

Also agree the goons could win by default as Liverpool did last season. Still too early to worry about it too much. I can live with them winning the league but the CL GHod no! I won’t even watch the final if they’re in it. Unless it’s against us.
