*** The official 2025/26 Premier League thread ***

The Goons are going to win the title again someday like it or not - I'd rather they do it when doing us a favour. I don't know what people are so worried about with the Goons winning the league, we've seen it multiple times before - pretty sure everyone lived another day and got on with their lives when it happened and I'm sure will do so again just like you do with various other things you don't enjoy.

It's great you see us getting enough points, but none of us have an idea what's going to happen unfortunately and that point could end up being crucial. I hope the Goons spank them and decimate any fight they have left in them....
We’ve pretty much won them the league without knowing it. No other team has taken as many points off City as we have this season. If we’d not gotten those results they’d be 2nd as it stands and we’re be 18th

I think it's because it's been so long since they won it.

I'm 43 so I went through years of seeing Arsenal finishing above us and winning titles. But then it sort of stopped and we had the Poch era where we finished above them for some years without quite winning it. So for them to overtake us again and manage to do what we couldn't do when we was ahead of them will be that bit more frustrating.

But I get your points of course.

I get it, no one here wants the Goons to win the league. But it's going to happen this season or another, and we are in an extremely risky position. We can't afford to give West Ham a point, I could list several scenarios where that point ends up being one that sends us down.

As much as I don't want the Goons to win, I care more about us surviving and there are no guarantees that point won't send us down. So I can't tell you how to think obviously, but for me I'll happily see the Goons win and I won't even feel dirty about it :)....

I don't want Woolwich to win today, but I do want West Ham to lose.
That's how I am reconciling it to myself, however little sense it makes.

Depending on your viewpoint, all outcomes have some sort of bonus, maybe not a home win.

A draw would still leave us 17th but then proabbly needing 4pts from the last 3

I still think Arsenal will go there and win. This is their big chance to win the title, if they drop points its back in the mix, like us, they wont really want to go into the last game wanting to win to guarantee their goal.

I've been attending football matches since 1958 and can't remember a season where I have heard so much booing of home teams, it's not restricted to relegation threatened teams even the team top of the table get it. The behaviour of so called supporters is disgraceful, they act like small children when their self proclaimed right to win every game is denied. One of the reasons I stop going to our home games was the awful reactions to the team and managers by people around me. My dad always told me if you can't accept defeat you shouldn't play the game.
Watched the city game yesterday and Bernardo Silva took a ball on the byline just out of play (first half, City were all over them). A sloth looking fan in the front row clearly shouted at him “ffs, you’re sh*t”…

That’s just brain damage. Still can’t grasp my head around that, it’s crazy. Think a lot of these people are literally unhinged.

Obviously we’re all biased with dislike of Arsenal, but this sort of fan culture now is a direct result of YouTube fan channels that were massively popularised by them lot. Over the top negativity became a career path. There’s more of that accessible to the younger generations than ever before as YouTube becomes more popular than television for certain age groups.

Not to say there wasn’t negativity amongst fans before YouTube, but it’s seeped in more and became the norm. Nothing is ever good enough for some people, there’s an entitlement to being a fan at times

I've got to admit I've thought that at times, but never considered shouting it at a player.

There's been a huge cultural shift, as we've become people with less of a sense of responsibility and more of a sense of entitlement. Narcissism has become "normal". Liverpool fans booing their team after a home draw - that says it all. it would have been unthinkable 20 years ago, maybe even a decade ago.

Its hugely this, the idea of actual "support" and I bore people to death with it, but lack of siege mentality is mental. We have podcasters who openly go all gooey for Arsenal, there were posts on here that was all dough eyed about Chelsea for year, in fact I remember one poster giving it "I bet Bohely wins loads and much quicker than Spurs" (PS..........they didn't we won ours a week earlier haha). But there seems such more appetite for sticking the knife into your own club in this league rather than show up and face up.

We are in an instant gratification, whats in it for me culture
