The Goon Thread

Arsemania is going nuts. A lot of their posters are hoping that it is a Spurs player.

Yeah Twitter went mental last night.. They were posting that he was on holiday at the time, that he was in Germany, doesnt live in Barnet so can't be him etc.
Others were posting it must be a Spurs player, Davies, Moura and Son are all 29 blah blah..

I don't get some people.. Why rage all over social media until you know the facts!?

It's human nature to speculate on who it is and being Arsenal fans they will always dive in on their opponent's players, just as Arsenal players have been mentioned on here.
All we currently know is it's a 29 year old PL player who will be going to the WC who was arrested at a house (doesn't say his house) in Barnet. Could be a lot of people.

I would be amazed if it was the religious Moura. Can you agile what his dad would say if it was Son??

As for Davies, I don't see it.

Always odd with these stories, it's inevitablly going to kick off the witch hunt by giving a few specifics but not the required clarity, turning the internet in to a rather shameful game of "Guess who - The sex crime edition".

Football allegiances (and football itself) became irrelevant at this stage - Just hope justice is carried out as it should be.

Especially with so many clues; the age, high profile, likely to go to the WC, etc. It won’t be too hard to compile a list of 10-20 names. Might as well just name the guy to avoid casting suspicions on all the others.

After the Cliff Richard fiasco, the media should be very wary about naming anyone. I've also seen people say "if x is charged, he should never wear our shirt again".

At this point, it's an allegation. There's a lot of virtue signalling out there about how this player, whoever he is, is vile and should be locked up. It's an allegation, innocent until proven guilty. The guy is entitled to due process. If he's guilty, by all means pile in on him.

It's natural to speculate. I went looking for the names today because I was worried it was one of ours. I know it's a bit tribal because there is a woman here who it seems has gone through an awful ordeal but I'd hate to think one of ours would do this. Thankfully, it doesn't look that way albeit there is a victim at the end of this and it does go beyond club loyalties.

The police have have rearrested whoever it is on two further allegations over the *struggle cuddle*, twice, of another woman in 2021.

You're right about being innocent until proven guilty, loads were piling into Bissouma without knowing any of the facts, however with another woman coming forward it does make this feel like another Mendy case.

It's great that these cases are being reported and acted upon. That the power of these scumbags is finally being eroded. Another addition to Mendy, Greenwood and Sigurdsson for Jail FC.

Agreed for the lads who are guilty. On the general point, it's mind boggling what a footballer would be thinking to get caught up in this. They have all the fame, all the money and the dream job. They have women throwing themselves at them. They could have sex on tap if they wanted.

What on earth would make anyone in that position do something like this?

Also validates the point you hear some managers talk about when they want to evaluate the character of a player before signing them. Sure, you could never be 100% certain but its not just about talent. Aside from the moral aspect, incidents like this could be very expensive for football clubs.
