The Goon Thread

Arsenal's winter slump arriving a little later than usual this season as they've rested players for EL games, but it's two wins in 8 now.

That's a great observation. Playing a B team in the Europa League/League Cup has suited them. 3 league games in sept, 4 in oct, 4 in nov, going along quite nicely. 7 league games in december, they haven't been able to handle it. January hasn't started that well with this latest result, so we'll have to see how they go from here and then it's European Football again in February.

How will they handle the Europa League when it starts up again? Because top 4 might be further away by then, so they will have to start taking it more seriously to try and win it, which then impacts the league games. Tough times ahead for them. What a shame!

And then Whinger started banging on about how nobody talked about Llorente’s offside goal:

Wenger’s tone turned darkly conspiratorial when he highlighted how Tottenham Hotspur’s first goal in their win at Swansea City on Tuesday night had been offside while they also might have had Davinson Sánchez sent off.

“The referees get away with you, with the English press, always, no matter what they do,” Wenger said.
“You have watched the game last night. You couldn’t read a line about it today. So nothing will change.”

Poor chap is unraveling.

Somehow he forgets to mention the non-free kick the goons received against us which led to an offside goal. Two poor decisions in a row. Costing the all-important goal. Mug.

The result was in no way controversial, even if Llorentes goal was. Funnily enough, Llorente was wrongly called offside when clean through on goal as well.

No mention of that? How, if the ref did his job correctly in both instances the result would probably have been no different?

Just as - yes - Sanchez probably should have gone for a second yellow. But, so should van der Hoorn, again no mention....

Wenger is pulling a bit of a Mourinho there. I quite like it to be honest, when the cracks begin to appear...

The press never confront Wenger on that stuff though, they just let him rant and it feeds his (and their fans who are all exactly the same to a man) Paranoia.

It was a soft pen but if it goes to a video panel then the decision is probably up held, just like the West Brom one. They weren’t blatantly wrong, the ball did hit Chambers hand and Hazard was kicked a foot or so away from the ball!

Wheelchair is playing well but you can't go missing for about 3 years come back, have two good games and walk back into England, surely?

That just bricks on the players that have worked hard and played well for a couple of years if it happens
