£100m isn’t even 12 months of stadium revenue for NWHL, we should be making a statement signing (like the Goons did with Rice) to strike fear into the hearts of the rest of Big Six so that they know that our new execs at THFC ain’t messing about and are intent on assembling a glorious squad which can compete on all 4 fronts!!!!
Nice sentiment but the issue is 100M players with PL experience typically will have 3-4 other choices before us.
I think this is where our strategy has failed, we have raised the amount of money we spend (Ange get 380M) but we now spend it on 2nd tier PL players (the ones the top teams don't quite want) -> Solanke, Richi, Bissouma, Johnson, Gray, Odobert and it hasn't really paid off.
If we had spent that money in Europe, 2 x 60M+ strikers, 2 x 50M midfielders, 2 x 25M midfielders, we probably would have had a better hit ratio. Gray and Bergvall had very different price tags but have similar ceilings.
Everyone asks for PL proven but the entire back line bar Spence & Davies (another era) was Europe -> Vic, Udogie, VDV, Romero, Danso, Dragusin, Porro with only Romero & Porro being more than 40M, Sarr, Bergvall, Bentancur, Paulhinha all good players at cheap prices compared to England.
If you had a 100M PL proven player that would come, great, but we need to find that next level elite player and I think 60-70M goes way further in Europe with the right scouting.
