I'm getting a bit sick and tired of England gifting wins to opposition teams. What was Brook thinking? England didn't need to get the runs all on day four? He threw his wicket away, Duckett too.

Maybe, but that's the way they play and what gets them into winning positions to begin with.
 
I don’t know how important winning is for England.

Test cricket is in real trouble and we are playing lots and actually keeping it viable here.

It’s not the same elsewhere, much less test cricket being played in front of falling numbers of supporters.

So if we lose the top order to reverse sweeps and failing to leave good balls alone - well at least we still get to complain about it.

when I am sat in my garden in 2042 if I am listening to test cricket at all it may have to be some sort of composite fixture with lower division players making a South of England v North of England series.
 
Glenn McGrath predicts England will be whitewashed in the 2025-26 Ashes, backing Australia to win the series 5-0.

The former Australia bowler, a six-time Ashes winner, always makes this prediction and did so before the 2023 series, which ended in a 2-2 draw, with the tourists retaining the urn.

England have not won an Ashes series since 2015, drawing two and losing two, and have not won a series - or indeed a Test - in Australia since 2010-11.

"It's very rare for me to make a prediction, isn't it? And I can't make a different one - 5-0," McGrath told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I'm very confident with our team. When you've got Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon firing in their home conditions, it's going to be pretty tough.

"Plus, that track record England have had, it'd be interesting to see if they can win a Test."

He is right about the bowling attack in Australian conditions but what he doesn't mention is there batsman. Usman is 38 turns 39 in December they can't decide who his opening partner should be. If they go with Konstas he seems to throw the bat at everything he doesn't let balls go very often. Green is touted to be coming in at 3 he is talented but has a lot to prove. In my opinion Smith & Labuschagne are coming to the end but might pull it out of the hat one last time. Head & carey can score runs then the bowlers. Mind you between now & the ashes the selectors could be bold & change the team but I doubt it.

Basically England have nothing to fear if we go after them I think we'll do them 3-1. I do wonder why they have changed the opening 3 tests around & why the Gabba is a day/nighter considering they have never lost one in Adelaide
