***Spurs vs Leeds United***, PL, 4th October 2025 at Elland Road

Romero should be back, but looks like the only one.

Kakia has been training for a week and Muani has for the past couple of days.

Forward is still a concern. Can't see Richalison or Tel getting much from the Leeds CB's

It's an extremely difficult game, a real test of our spirit. It's a cause of concern that our forward can not keep possession and we have to rely on our midfield and defenders to score.
Think it’s hard to keep possession when you get such slow passes
They seem to wait until a player is marked before passing to him

Expecting more of the same as we've seen recently. Mostly solid, but struggling with ball progression and dependent on individual brilliance. First goal will be very important.

My guess would be two of Palhinha, Sarr and Bentancur will start with Bergvall/Gray/Simons more as a 10.

Personally I would like a midfield of Palhinha, Gray/Bergvall and then Simons ahead of them, but doubt an away game will be the game for that solution.

Will then need creativity and ball progression from our wide players. Kudus obviously will be really important, but wouldn't mind Simons starting on the left again if that means we get him and Bergvall/Gray in the starting lineup at least. Odobert probably being the most creative option on the left if Simons starts centrally.

I'm guessing Richarlison will start again, but we need to provide him with better service.

What: Leeds United vs Spurs, PL match
When: Saturday 4th October 2025, 12.30pm K.O
Where: Elland Road, Leeds

No league wins since West Ham but no losses. Plenty of angst about style of play, which will/should probably be somewhat tempered by remembering how many injuries we have in attacking roles.

Also….no wins in the games before an international break since early October 2023 at Luton – which was also a Saturday 12.30pm kickoff, oh those were the days: a win when having ten men and a clean sheet!

For this match I’d go with:

Vicario
Spence Romero VDV Udogie
Bentancur Paulinha Sarr
Kudus Richarlison Odebert

Bergvall, Tel and Simons to come off the bench in the second half as needed.

I’m going to say we are going to close that two-year cycle and get a hard-fought win here: 2-1 to us, Richarlison double.

Bring on the badgers.

Funny isn't it, what a couple of okay but not brilliant results can do on perspective. That line up looks good but not great, I feel it would turn into more of a 4-2-3-1 with Sarr as a 10 focused on energy rather than creativity.

Wilson getting a chance to start would be welcomed, we really want someone to step up on the left and claim that spot. It doesn't feel like Simons will thrive there going by a very limited number of games for us (but also analysis of his whole career so far). We could do with one of our talented young Frenchies stepping up with end product to match the potential, the shirt is there to be won.

The stars have aligned and I'm free to watch the game, fortunate to get my fix before yet another sensationally dull international break.

Kudus' first goal is coming, let's hope it's today and we are up for it on all fronts.

Leeds United have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur (W1 D1), including each of their last four in a row – their longest ever league losing run to Spurs.

Tottenham have won both of their last two league visits to Elland Road and could beat Leeds United away from home three times running in the league for the very first time.

Leeds have shipped four goals in their last two home Premier League games against Spurs, losing 4-0 in Marcelo Bielsa’s last game in charge and 4-1 in their final game of 2022-23 before being relegated. No side has ever scored four goals in three away league matches at Elland Road in a row.

Spurs have picked up seven points in their three away Premier League games in 2025-26 (W2 D1), as many as in their previous 11 games on the road combined (W2 D1 L8).

Leeds haven’t won any of their last 11 Premier League matches that have kicked off before 3pm (D2 L9), since a 3-0 win over Chelsea in August 2022 (2pm KO).
