***Spurs vs Leeds United***, PL, 4th October 2025 at Elland Road

If you think this is the peak of their powers and thus the expectations should be so high, then I frankly think you are talking nonsense
No, read what I said again. I said you are assuming that the player will significantly improve. If you have watched lots of football over the years you will know that is not always the case, its not even usually the case. So its an assumption that you are making.

Will Tel improve? Maybe. Will progress into a top class attacker? Maybe. Will he become world class? Again maybe, but none of us know. There is equally the chance that his performance level right now is exactly what he always will be.

If Tel is world class in 2 years time it won't make a difference to how he has performed today. What players like Tel, Odobert, Bervall or Sarr offer today rigth now is what matters because we aren't a development side. We aren't talking about players coming on for 5 minutes here and there to get used to the level, we are talking about first 11 players. Their performances have to be evaluated against that expectation.

We've gone massively of course but i thought Tel did ok today given the circumstances and him probably not even being a CF, but i'm being honest it wasn't a complete balanced performance.

They were not purchased to be ready now players and I won't judge them as such

As simple as I can put it

I'm not judging them as ready-made players though. I'm judging them on their contributions to the team right now. Overall Tel was a positive today, despite not giving a complete forward's performance.
