***Spurs vs Emirates Marketing Project***, PL, 23rd Aug 2025 at Etihad

Interesting.
I saw a very different game to you, and thought Johnson worked very hard - the last 10 before he was subbed he was vital in doubling up on Doku. Kudus is excellent, but give Bergvall his due, slotted in well and actually created a very very good chance which IMO should've been at least on target.
I thoiught we were largely comfortable TBH, should've been three really (Lewis produced a brilliant piece of defending to deny Richy off Porro's second-half cross)...
Wasn't it Kudus working so hard to double up on Doku? Thought that was really impressive and important.

Agreed Bergvall did well. Good to see him slot in like that in a game like that.

Thought Johnson had a fairly disappointing second half.

Only saw the first 60 mins but from what I saw it was a confident, assured and comfortable performance and never looked under any serious threat. Was the last half hour any different? We really do own Emirates Marketing Project don’t we 😂

In the last half hour, if memory serves, the game opened up a bit. They had a couple of decent chances but so did we, It was a weirdly enjoyable experience.

You're right, it was. Johnson was helping Spence and did a good job of it overall. I personally tire of the Johnson knocking.

I was in the upper tier (3) yesterday and it was great to be able to see from on high our shape and movement. I think someone mentioned the Poch team earlier and I did say to the person next to me that it reminded me of the Poch days. Obviously not comparable to the height of those days but more a) our organised pressing and b) every player seemed to know where the other players were and what they should be doing to cover.
Easy to get carried away and I am sure we will lose games that we would ordinarily expect to win, but it all feels very promising.

Thomas Frank described it as a 'defining moment' in our fine 2-0 win at City in the Premier League on Saturday.

However, it wasn't Brennan Johnson's brilliantly-taken first goal, or Palhinha's strike to mark his first start for us in the Premier League, or Guglielmo Vicario's saves to deny Omar Marmoush with City on top in the opening exchanges of the first half.

In fact, we were already 2-0 up, 10 minutes to go and on top, with City struggling to break us down and it looking more likely we'd score a third on the counter.

The moment was Micky van de Ven's block tackle to deny Jeremy Doku on 81 minutes, as City countered from one of our late breaks.

Asked what particularly caught his eye at the Etihad, Thomas told us: "I think a couple of things... in the second half we kept going for 3-0, it’s not like we didn’t want to do that, or we wanted to just see the game out.

"Then the team effort - there is one moment in the game that is defining, I hope it’s defining for a good season, although it’s early, early days. It's in the second half, a transition, 10 players, head down, sprinting back and then ending with Micky’s block. Wow. That gave me goosebumps, because we all want the goal in the top corner, the beautiful play - that, we want as well - but that bit, sprinting back, that will win you a lot of football matches."
