Souza

But they had a career playing left back at least
fudging grim seeing not one player on the left who actually plays there
Just means we have one side to play down and it’s so so easy
That's why I wish they would try VDV there if they don't think Souza is ready. But Souza looks fine to me, certainly better than what we have been doing....

Don’t have a left footer CB though
Why not actually do what decent sides do and try to have more than one left footed player in the team 🥲😞😉

Left-back João Victor Souza, currently at Tottenham in England, has received an offer from Benfica in Portugal, and Santos could receive a multi-million sum should the deal go through. The Portuguese club has offered 20 million euros (around R$ 116 million) for the player, and the English club is considering the offer.

‘O Menino da Vila’ was sold by Santos to Tottenham (England) back in January. As the club holds a 10 per cent share of the capital gain and a percentage of FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, it could stand to make a profit of around 1.2 million euros (around R$ 7 million).

Is this a quick profit by us or are we simply cutting our losses asap?

Not sure we would be cutting out losses, he looked a fabulous player when we saw him fleetingly

I was talking financially speaking, not in terms of player quality.

Also, he hardly featured even when Udogie was crocked (as he usually is), so that didn't say much for the poercenbtion by our managers re his quality.
Overall, strange signing imo

Not really true, he literally played when he was injured and when Udogie came back (Liverpool off my head) he was then dropped to bench, Udogie played every game from then on bar one.

Not sure that's true. Udogie got injured vs Man Utd in Feb and came back vs Sunderland in April.
Souza started two games in that time vs Palace (and came off after the sending off of VDV) and vs Liverpool.
All the others games, people like Spence, Grey or VDV started at LB ahead of Souza.

I wouldn't sell this dude.

Benfica would be a good loan. CL football I'm guessing. If they are looking to sign him on a permanent, I'm guessing it's a position they require a player in. So even on loan he should get games.

We have Udogie and two old LBs ...
Udogie needs assessing on injury resilience
And Robertson and Davies are winding down.
1 or 2 seasons there could easily be a spot for Souza.

For someone who is 20 yes old and only just moved to Europe...I think he looked good the times he's played

Seemed to have some nice touch and control, but i felt needed to bulk up and get used to English football. Certainly looks like a long-term punt, i mean buy, from what has been seen.

I don’t think Souza was ever bought to go immediately into the first team, we tried to sign Robertson in January and he even acknowledged how close it came then in his interview last week, I suspect the plan with Souza was always to loan him out for a season or two.

Davies is looking like the 5th choice cb, yesterday when he came on for Kyermaten Ty Hall was shifted from rb to lb and Hardy and Takai all shifted over one place to the right and Davies played as the left sided cb, the simple option was Davies at lb.
