That is my recollection too that Paulinho was playing some Samba football to begin with but then Charlie Adam did his usual caveman thuggery which sidelined him for a month and somewhat understandably the Brazilian didn’t really fancy EPL much after that.

We really are fudged when our own manager is not willing to stand up for his players and actually almost encouraging them to be fouled.
What a tosser sherwood was.

Sherwood is right, as a midfield player you are going to get kicked. In England players will soon learn about opponents who don’t fancy it when the tackles are flying in and capitalise on that. The best players stand up to it, give it back with interest and don’t stop wanting the ball as a result. Hoddle is an example of this, he used to get treatment that you wouldn’t believe in this day and age, yet he stayed in the middle of the pitch and always wanted the ball.

You expect it in every league, what you shouldn't expect is your manager to say that it's OK to go over the ball and take the player out for a month.
I swear we're the club in the world that thinks this OK, "play up and play the game" went out decades ago.
