Son Heung-Min

£20m for a 33 year old Son with 1 year on his contract is great business.

I guess we'll never know what the real financials are. On the surface we get £20m and £10m off the wage bill.

However, on the flip side we don't know the negative impact of the Asian market because we no longer have Sonny. He sells a lot of shirts and we know our ground attracts many Asians for one off visits to see their idol.

I guess it's a moot point though as players get older and lose the super powers. You have to call time eventually.

Disagree with retireing a squad number. It should be an inspiration for players. There have also been players that have won more than son wearing it. Ardiles for one.

Numbers in football are irrelevant, they were originally there so that spectators could identity players, with names on shirts thats redundant and they bear no relation to the position a player is filling.

We can’t just keep a squad place for that though. This is about the last point we could demand any sort of fee for him so we have to cash in. Honestly, it’s a no brainer IMO.

Amazing memories, streaky player but often stepped up in big games especially against City. Big big personality as well, doubt anyone has a bad word for him - leaves as a total legend and can't wait to welcome him back some day.

Sensible all round as well, a new era with Frank and although he's still more than capable he's definitely past his best and a few years in LA will be a great end to a career.

Nice he got to finally win a trophy with us as his last competitive game.

someone saw some of his interviews in Korean and basically the just they got was -> of course good time to move on, but he's been struggling with injuries, wants to have one last go for his country at World Cup (which coincidentally is in US), slightly lower level gives him a good chance to be at his best for WC.
