Set Pieces

Disgraceful. Corners and offensive free kicks should be an advantage for the attacling team. We must be one of the poorest team on them in Europe

THIS!!!!!!!!!

We are so bad at them it's beyond a joke now. Stoke get 1 set piece and they score from it! Modric has the power a 6 year old when he takes corners. We've been awful at them for years despite having different managers, different goalkeepers and different defenders. The best way of beating us is to foul us outside the box.

We also had 71% possession, 24 shots to 8, 18 on target to 2. With those stats we should be scoring 3-4 at least.

The problem is, they all take it in turns to take one as they are all crap at them! We don't have even ONE player who is good at them. Friedel might as well fudging take one.

It is frustrating, very frustrating. All the players look excited when we have a set piece but not sure why - we are brick at them. Absolute brick. I have never seen a team worse at set pieces than us. Admittedly we dont have the biggest team in the world but all I ask for is to miss the first fudgein man. Make the opposition work and defend it.

I think its come to a stage where either we are given a throw in or a rule in football should be brought in which stipulates that THFC when given a set piece should give the ball back otherwise they will be time wasting - BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IT IS. It is wasting my time and everyone elses time.

The problem is we take outswingers because we have VDV taking them from the left and mods from the right they are easier to defend against than inswingers. This is common football knowledge that you don't need to be paid millions to know.

That isn't the problem though, not the main one anyway. The main problem is that 70% of the set-pieces don't clear the first man. The second problem is then that the players don't attack the ball very well. That is if we even manage to get enough men in there.

Tonight was the first time i noticed most of the crowd didnt even get excited with any set pieces we got. I have been the same all season.. I dont get one bit excited becuase the obvious always happens.

We need to all tweet every single spurs player and tell them to practice them.

it really is beyond a joke

Why dont we just post someone IN FRONT of their first man. He can then flick on anything that drops short whether intended or not. So simple.

Might be worth a try. Stick one of the midgets in front of the first man - won't be easy producing an effective flick on but considering how bad our corners are at the moment it couldn't be any worse.

i fcuking hate our set pieces

fcuking downright embarrassing

why cant anyone at the club do something about it

an hour a day, half an hour a day, just practice for gods sake

pi$$ed off

I take better corners for my Sunday League team.

Pathetic from such professionals and coaching staff alike. They should be fined wages for that, for fudges sake

The only decent corner we took and scored that i can remember was kranjcar against man bricky a few years back, yes 2009!!! and that was a short one.............its not going to get any better on saturday, you can see terry scoring saturday and modric hitting ashley cole/boswinga at the front post.

They had figured out a little routine last season (or was it earlier this season) where Bale would run onto the near post and flick it on. Scored and assisted a few doing that. They either got bored of that or we were figured out. So we're back to hitting the first man again.

Benny took a decent one last night towards the end (probably the last one of the game). No-one attacked it, though; they were all standing around the fringes, as usual, waiting for it to drop at their feet. It's almost like they can't understand why they're not being invited to have an unopposed attempt on goal.

I was at the game last night and it was embarrassing to watch players of the calibre of Modric and VdV making such a hash of our corners and it was no surprise when the crowd got agitated towards the end when yet another one hit the first defender ](*,)

BAE should be allowed to take them more often based upon his one effort last night which was arguably the best of the bunch but sadly no one had anticipated what a good delivery it would be and made a decent run.

With all the backroom staff we have at the club do none specialise in set-piece drills? As it is such a glaring deficiency in our side which Harry must be patently aware of.

haha i cant take corners, too much pressure, everyone watching you, plus I worry about the corner flag getting in the way. always end up doing a Modric...

Put the ball on the perimetre of the corner arc and you won't hit the corner flag. I usually press it down anyway to about 45 degress - refs couldn't give a toss.

I play in the 5th level in Norway and even I can deliver better corners, and i am by no means a set puece specialist

Not exactly a corner but I've noticed Bale launching a few, dare I say, Delap-esque throw ins every now and then.
Is that something that we should use or do people think that crosses the line (O:))?
