How bad is our coaching?

I get it the are some on here who think redknapp is the greatest thing since sliced bread, maybe he is a manager not a coach. If so how would you rate our coaches because i watch us and i have to wonder whether they actually work on anything in trainning.

Ever since ferdinand joined we have been awful at shooting, not sure what kevin bond and joe jordan do because we do not seem to work on set pieces either.

Pathetic coaching at the club, it is another thing levy has to look at in the summer.
 
Ferdinand needs shooting, preferably by someone else, as he would miss.

and our set pieces need work too i suppose.
 
With all due respect, this isn't Football Manager: coaches don't specialise in 'shooting'. By the time players are in the first team squad, 99% of them are not going to get any better at shooting. How many examples are there of a new coach coming in to a team and all of their players improving at shooting?!

Our shooting has got worse though it is obvious to anyone that watches us over the last few seasons.

Why have trainning sessions if you are not going to praactise things why do other clubs have coaches?

Nope things need to change behind the scenes, we have some good players but they are not allowed to reach their potential and never will in the current set up.

Our players were developing very well under Moniz. At present our coaching system is a joke; its just an old boys club.

Apparently he also taught the coaches new skills but i guess he left before bond, jordan and ferdinand and sherwood came in. We really are not quick enough in the final third, only striker we have who likes to get the ball out of his feet quickly and have a shot is defoe mind you he is not as good as parker is he....

I do not know why they make ex players coaches, not for a big team anyway. Let them fudge off to a smaller team and get experiance before bringing them into a club like Spurs. We need a decent Striker coach who is experienced not "Les average at best Ferdinand"
 
Ferdinand was average as a striker no wonder our strikers barely score.

Modric and Ade both shoot like girls, why hasn't the coaching helped with that? You cant tell me that without some coaching they wouldnt start to shoot better.
 
I would say the only reasonable answer is that we have the 4th worst coaching and tactics in the Premier League.
 
You cant coach shooting, and you certainly cant coach instinct. What you could coach re: Ferdinand, is how to find some extra space, how to read a goalkeeper and his movement, possibly how to find that extra second of time for your eyes to glance to see if something better is on etc

considering the quality of players and the amount of posession and then the amount of shots we have a game i would suggest our strikers in shooting terms are no where near the top, adebayor is a good hold up man and a decent striker, vdv is a lovely creative type who wanders a little to much but neither of them are great scorers.

Defoe is not either he is a hot and cold striker who gets into good positions sometimes and a lot like ferdinand can hit the ball hard and in the direction of the goal. I can not belive that with a coach working with them on the trainning pitch on certain sitautions that they would face in a match they would not improve.

Chuck the ball into VDV 50 times with 2 defenders close on him just outside the penalty box and then the coach has to coach him on how to get that ball into the goal, either through turning and taking on the man or doing a quick shot where you need to keep your head down so the ball does not end up outside the local chippy.

Yes a player has most of his skill by a set age but why do all sportsmen in every sport still practise, why do the guys number 1 in the world still practise?

We need help to go up frther in the league and every little thing we can do to compete against teams with bigger budgets then us is important.

Not just that, so rarely do we get players ahead of the ball to make space/passing angles and rarely do we ever get numbers in the box.

based on what- are you privy to what happens behind the scenes. do you go to watch training sessions???

Did you know we are the only club to have 4 players in the top 20 of EPL top scorers table

I just do not buy that, it is a bit like with bale and how one footed he is. If he was out on the trainning pitch and for 2 hours a day ran fast and hit the ball first time with his right foot into the penatly area where some youth team players were i would expect after a month for his right foot to be at least a little better.

When i have done things in sporting terms the more i have practised the better i got, obviously i never made it as a proffesional footballer. But it defies any logic that a footballer can not get at least some better with extra pracitse.

I remember when ronaldinho was world player of the year and then he dropped down a bit in the season after he said he did not spend as long on the trainning pitch as in the year he was made world player of the year, figo as well i think said similar. I will try and find quotes after i have had my sunday lunch. Point is players can increase their performances by some % with extra work.

I dont question the coaches we have at the club i just question how many and at the end of day does harry full control of what goes. Must be difficult with so many people giving their opinions.
 
TBH I think we just see how it goes, roll the dice and we win or lose. There is nothing to suggest our player can somehow change by coaching. Gomes made mistakes, we added a GK coach - did he improve? No. We then changed GK's. Which we could have done without this special superstar coach. We have Ade up front. Who coaches him, Ferdinand? LOFL, the guy doesnt know how to be a no.9. Allen and Jordan, other than shouting and getting in to arguments with Gattuso, what else do they do that previous managements havent!!!
