Savinho

Minorities make the most noise, I think our fans are pleased to see signings and hope they workout for us, there are exceptions we we know them by now.

I do think the whole "People used to complain about us not spending and now now complaining about overspending" thing a bit lazy, if you can call out specific individuals that's one thing but it's not necessarily the same folks...
And even if it is, what's a touch more cognitive dissonance added to supporting a top level football club, especially one like ours that is so hard to pin down. We could be anything this season, no doubt Savinho will be chomping at the bit to do his stuff, much like the fans will be to see him do it!

There is a percieved market value for transfers and you can overpay in that respect.
Even the perceived market value is variable, it really does depend on the eye of the behokder. Look at Romero, in our fan base his perceived value was in and around £60m but the market and Inter thought otherwise. I remember when Rice was bought, almost everyone said it was an overpay but then his quality and the results they have received have proven his worth even if his perceived value at the time was lower.

the negativity around us is as a result of our two seasons as "sleeping giants". Our spending power, if fully unlocked, was always designed to be bigger than just about everyone else, because Levy in his legacy act of genius built us a colosseum, which we could use for all manner of other revenues. The likes of Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Villa, even Utd are way behind us on that front, which is why their fans are looking at us and wondering how we can do this, both from a cash perspective but also from a regulatory one. The truth of that is that we are exploiting the system for when a club isn't in Europe, while we have also cleared out a lot:

Luka Vušković Brighton £46m
Will Lankshear Middlesbrough £10m
Alfie Devine Preston £6m
Manor Solomon West Ham £5m
Djed Spence Inter Milan £30m
Cristian Romero Atlético Madrid £34m
Ashley Phillips Middlesbrough £7m

Add to that the departures of Biss, Dragusin and Vicario removing their wages and we've made £138m or more, depending on performance of the likes of Vuskovic, Lankshear and Philips plus taken a good half a million off the weekly wage bill.
Only two??

I watched the City vs Atletico pre season friendly, Savinho was playing off of the right, he ripped their left back apart time and time again and put 2 or 3 very good balls across the keeper for a tap in but unfortunately no one was there to tap it in. People are going to like this guy i can sense it.

And his best side is the left
That’s where he played really well in Spain

Having seen a fair bit of him pre City, I'd advise not to listen to people who are coming to conclusions based on his stint there. He will do well here where he will be one of the main men, I'm confident of that....

We still don't have anyone to do the tapping in though do we??

You only really feel you've overpaid if the players doesn't perform to the standard required.

we have only overpaid if we then don't improve. If we improve then the cost of the transfer becomes more or less immaterial, especially if we win trophies.

Also don't believe the media numbers, there's always nuance and variation to everything. Someone suggested this morning that a lot of the excess on Savinho could be to offset the sell on that City have to pay on Marmoush - probably rubbish, but you see how these things work.

The 'overpaying' if they don't perform is a hindsight thing. We literally can't pin that on any of our signings at this point.

Then there's overpaying above perceived market value.

And that partly feeds into the final one...you can overpay and then cry you've run out of money.

And this simply speaks to what we are seeing . The pot is bigger. Whether it continues to be bigger, will be the future question.

I'm a minority, I saw us win the league!

Richarlison can finish off chances fine. Our issue for over a season is the creating of chances, you can criticise Richi for many things but if we have players putting the ball in and around the box he will score enough....
It's just that he actively stops us getting the balls into and around the box with his elephant touch.😆

And he doesn't always finish well, the other day he missed a fair few chances and his lack of anticipation means he doesn't always get on the end of balls he should across the box. I like the bloke but the idea he is somehow misunderstood as a player recently is making me laugh.
